What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

My Resilience from oldmanwilly oldmanwilly arrived as well, and I gave it some time on the grinder. Thus here are my current user folders, with the two modded Resiliences being my out-and-about knives and the Tenacious being my pajama pants knife.

Some blades in .225" 8670 that will be going out for heat treatment next week:

Godzilla Smatchet - spoken for

Hidden tang Khukuri - spoken for

And the rest are extras from the same sheet, "designed" on the fly according to what the remaining steel allowed.

A camp/fighter.

A skinny tanto.

A pseudo wharncliffe/reverse tanto

A basic utility knife

A few items just about ready to go out the door. There are two MagnaCut commissions, and one machete that will serve as an R&D knife in 1/8" 8670, with a 16 1/2" blade and a nice large Suretouch handle. I did not own a large blade until I got this one finished (as they tend to fly the coop on me), so it will join me on my spring hikes into the brush in the near future, where I'll test my theory about tough, thin, and, fast for trail clearing and chopping. If this were Ti it would be too light for me, but I think 8670 at this size will hit hard without needing to exert nearly as much effort as with the Ti machete last year. Gonna have to scrape off those gobs of glue from my cutting board... again.

I like that big one - looks fast, yet it would hit with some punch due to it's blade length.

And I wasn't going to make a big announcement, but I will mention that I have a sheet of 3/32" AEB-L, which I have cut into thirty pieces sized for neckers or slim EDCs (about 7" x 1") and will shape into knives over the course of the week. Then ship to Jarod for heat treatment. You can see the sheet on the bench as I was cutting the machete top off to make it slimmer and faster.

Was colder than of late today, so the heat gun came out to help with cold tools and fingertips. I don't know why I never thought of this before....

And here is the box of AEB-L bits, ready to be made into a bunch of one-off designs on the fly.

Started conceptualizing tonight with the sharpie, before I went late night grocery shopping at Walmart. There are also four cutoffs from the last time I had AEB-L waterjet cut, so those will become something too. A third of the billets I cut out are actually a little over 7", more like 8 1/2". I'll be back on MagnaCut commissions again tomorrow, but will putter away at these as well, in between.
