What's so special about the Busses?

Many of you have violated our Rule #1.

Rule # 1: Don't talk about BUSSE club.

Cobalt is watching. ;)

I can understand how someone who does not own a Busse and is not active on the Busse sub-forum here might be a little cautious at first. But many have already given the answers we all give as to why we choose to buy knives that, to some, might be too much.

For me, I took a leap and purchased one. Then I used and abused it. Yes, I said abused it. Only because I wanted to see if it would really live up to the claims. And you know what? It did. Over and over and over again. I am not in the practice of abusing my knives but I use them hard. I am just a "Doubting Thomas" at times. :D Once you get past the "I JUST PAID HOW MUCH FOR A FLUGGIN KNIFE?" phase, and actually use it, you'll start to enjoy your INFI. Plus, many, perhaps most, are also consumers of several other brands of knives.

There are plenty of knives out there that would do more than most of us will ever need. But all these...

(1) High performance knives
(2) Semi custom
(3) Top notch warranty.
(4) Jerry (I have never seen someone so consumer friendly. He REALLY stands behind his products.)
(5) The community: Just a bunch of friendly, helpful, knuckle heads, like myself, there for one another.

... make me a proud owner of a few choice users.

+1! TL you said how it is:thumbup:

resistance is futile, prepare to bussicate
:p

Perhaps after my wife's surgery I will be able to bussificate myself early next year on a level about 7-inch blade Bussificator - that is, if I can find a quality sheath for the Bussinator of my future choice.

I doubt if any one knife will make me chuck out all others, however.

You guys is funny. :D

We'll be looking for you at the next meeting, Jaxx. You've got some penance coming your way, brother! To even dare utter the secrets away from the holy mud!

LOL :D

As a non-Busse cultist, I just want to add that I saw a buddy of mine tossing a Ratwiler around one day about two years ago. I didn't even know what a Rat was, much less a Busse. I held it in my hand and said "Huh, you paid how much for this?" I didn't get it. He just laughed knowingly at me. All day long we threw it at just about anything vaguely wood-like and he really didn't seem to care where or how it landed. I'll tell ya, I didn't stick it ONCE. I heard it repeatedly pang off of rocks and saw it sink to the scales in the ground dozens of times. After an afternoon of this, I examined the edge carefully. I almost cut myself.

A way-too-freaking-long-time-later, I got my first knife from the Busse family, a Combat Grade Fusion Battle Mistress.

Three months later and I had to completely re-learn how to throw a knife. And while I still miss on occasion, I don't worry about it. OK, I sometimes worry about LOSING it, but NEVER about damaging it. I just pull it out of whatever, give it a good shake, and throw it even harder the next time. :D

I am now slowly being consumed by envy, I hate you. :p

I have panhead wishes and knucklehead dreams...... :o

Got cheated out of a nice shovel once, but thats another story.:grumpy:

Bummer on the shovel. That really sucks.

I too, have knucklehead dreams. Errrr Dreams about knuckleheads. Dang, that didn't sound right either way. LOL

Sort of a lighthearted attempt to say this thread sounds like some biker bars I've been to.

"The Shovels are the best thing ever created, No, the knuckles were. You're both crazy, the Evos are it! You're all nuts, my Pan will blow your doors off!" Etc Etc Etc

Then again, to non Harley riders, a lot of these threads sound familiar. Just subsitute Harley for Busse.

Dwaynes sig line says it all.

Hey guys, since there are so many Busse fans and owners in this thread, can any of you tell me if they ever made a satin Active Duty with Pumpkin micarta scales, and if yes, does anybody have a picture or two?

Thanks,

Doc

No and yes.

Lots of knives are traded between Busse forum regulars. You have to read the forum, and wade through a good many threads dedicated to obscure pork references, in order to know when a sales event is even going to happen. New arrivals at the Company Store are announced there. There are threads there announcing that a 'box of INFI' has arrived and the photos are of knives I can't find for sale anywhere, so they must come from some dealings not available to the general public.

So yes, being a regular appears to have benefits.

Which is fine by me.

I'm not trying to malign anyone's consumer acumen here. Busse makes excellent knives. There is no need to overpunctuate.

Contact anyone

Hey... you guys have an entire forum to talk about this stuff.

Since when has this thread been on topic? It went straight from a question about the knives to diatribes about the company and the users/collectors. :p

Thanks MORIMOTOM. Isn't that blade shape a little different than most AD's?

G10 - good, I like G10. MORIMOTOM, sorry but I have to ask you? Who is the lady you use as an avatar?

I have to ask this here - I went to the Busse forum once, and I couldn't understand a damn thing! :(

yes, that ad is a variant with a different grind and slightly different shape overall. if you call the shop, there is a possibility one is still available from the ganza a couple weeks ago.

there isnt a traditional ad with pumpkin scales.

the girl is amy-0 from busse combat. im her stalker (read: admirer from afar, very afar.)

Thanks again. I'll try and find out how to call the shop, although I think I prefer the drop point. As far as no traditional AD with pumpkin scales, that can always change. It is the one that will make me take the plunge.

I guess Amy-0 is just one more thing to like about Busse.

Doc - BTW, you guys really speak English, eh? :D

I'm not reading this whole dang thread so I don't know if its been mentioned, but, in regards to price... I suspect most of the people who have complained about high price are looking solely at the aftermarket price. The price from Busse Combat and the company store are, in my opinion, a good value when compared to other high end production knives in the same price range- and even higher.

For those who are curious, buy one and beat the snot out of it. If you somehow manage to mess it up badly, you'll love Busse's warranty. And if it survives the torture and is just not for you, sell it and you are almost guaranteed to make back your original purchase price, or quite near it at the very least.

And, lets be honest... I know of no other production knives where I could have purchased one (admittedly somewhat rare) blade in '04 for ~$300 and be able to sell it today, in used condition, for twice that or more. And sell it within minutes too, most likely. Seconds, if the right hogs are watching. I won't though, because its that good of a knife. I'm not a fanatic but that ought to tell ya something.

lol. true as that may be, I think this thread has been around long enough and derailed a little more than necessary. :D
