What's that you're eating?

Fried chicken thighs, can carrots and can whole corn.

Carrots and the corn are separate. Salt, butter, and pepper in each.

Regular fried chicken thighs. Soaked in some 50/50 salt and sugar brine since 2pm today. No batter, just like they are, bare skin. They'll get some pepper and maybe some garlic powder.

On the road tonight, but there is a pretty awesome hidden steakhouse across from the hotel that I like to visit when here. Always delicious food, and tonight was no exception. I don’t normally eat the steak here, but it was excellent. Green beans and asparagus for sides. Bulleit on the rocks to wash it down.

Just catching up again with some simple home cooked meals . . .

Bought 2 pre-cooked Dungeness Crabs on sale for just $6/# at Safeway which yielded 1# of crab meat. Found a Martha Stewart recipe which places a dollop of the crab mix on top of a butter lettuce leaf on top of a grilled hot dog bun.

Tasted pretty good but don't actually need the bun. Just eating the rest of the crab mix taco style on top the lettuce leaf alone (or maybe) on a heated flour tortilla) instead of the bun which would be easier to eat.

--------------------------------------------

Next up a plate of Braised Oxtails (using a recipe that I've been using for years) w/some bourbon on the rocks on the side. Added carrots & Yukon gold potatoes for veggies.

It's always delicious. Often use the extra gravy when making Loco Moco or just poured on top of a grilled NY strip steak.

--------------------------------------------

Lastly, a plate of Rigatoni w/a Broccoli Pesto Sauce topped with chopped walnuts & with a glass of Pinot Noir on the side. Got the recipe off of an episode of Milk Street.

It tasted pretty good too. :)
