Next . . . a Chinese steamed bass redo at a restaurant that I like in Sacramento:

Only problem was that it wasn't entirely steamed either but wasn't as bad as the last one. Not having much luck with steamed fish lately. 🤷‍♂️

Going to make one on my own at home next. :cool:

Also ordered a plain dish of shitake mushrooms with bok choy & got this instead:

It wasn't bad but I could have done w/o any fried tofu & more shitake mushrooms. 🤷‍♂️

And lastly, an order of Bun Bo Hue at a Vietnamese restaurant that was new to me but wanted to try because they served Bun Bo Hue:

Problem is, they used a pork instead of beef shank & only included 1 blood cube in the bowl. :(

There obviously has been a HUGE gap between my expectations & the reality of my Asian restaurant experiences lately. 🤷‍♂️
 
Venison Backstrap, quickly seared then roasted.

Served up with loaded roasted and mashed potatoes and a quick savory sauce with prickly pear jelly. The doe no doubt ate prickly pear during her life, so I thought it fitting.
