What's that you're eating?

Took a weekday trip to NYC. Had some Thai for lunch and Korean for dinner.

Oysters with an unbelievable Seafood Sauce (Fish sauce with pineapple).

NICE wine!🍷
How is that one? I was eyeing it at Costco a couple of days ago.
BUY it! A great whiskey. Especially if you like higher rye bourbons.
Collected about 40 gallons of maple sap this week.

How does one put in an order with shipping to Texas?🤔
Wellington with venison tenderloin from my deer hunt, shiitake duxelle, and duck bacon.

Looks spectacular chef!

Those look excellent Moorik Moorik ! What did you use for the fat content?
This was my, let's say, late breakfast.I threw in some pickled cucumbers, processed cheese, Tabasco sauce, and the meat turned out super juicy on its own — it was ground turkey, just from the thigh. And somehow I didn’t feel the need to add anything else.

Usually I might toss in some cream, or like tomato sauce or something along those lines.Sometimes even sour cream. I’ll throw in fried potatoes from the pan, or even boiled ones.

That’s exactly why I love wrapping literally anything in a flatbread — there are literally no rules here.

So my personal tier list is something like:

  • sour cream + potatoes (baked, fried, whatever)
  • or just melty processed cheese with different sauces

It all depends on how lazy I’m feeling at the moment, lol.

I meant what did you use for fat content in your flour tortillas? But now I’m glad I asked since the mystery of the filling ingredients is now revealed! Thanks for sharing.

Not nearly as glamorous as some of you fine folks cook. But I'll be damned if they aren't addictive. My little spin on classic beignet. Cook in peanut oil. Use heavy whipping cream instead of water and a splash of vanilla.

Since I started to eat healthier about 2 years ago, I don't cook these nearly as often, but sometimes you need to indulge.

And a crawfish boil later today!!!

Edit to add update.
I go outside for 15 minutes and come back in to find someone was able to reach my beignets....

No denying it was her.

We had bought all the stuff to make these bourbon balls back around Christmas, but never got around to it. I made some old fashioneds last night for the wife and I, and she decided we needed to make these now!

So we got the pecans soaking in bourbon last night, and finished them up today. Pretty sure the recipe came from here on BF somewhere: https://spicysouthernkitchen.com/bourbon-balls/
