What's that you're eating?

Cast-iron bread and sausages for dinner.

I'm always on the look out for Chinese restaurants that serve dim sum.

Found a new one in Martinez, CA. It's in the same space occupied by a prior Chinese restaurant that I never tried because they didn't serve dim sum.

This is what I had for lunch the other day: Steamed pork buns, braised chicken feet, steamed shrimp dumplings and a couple of Sapporros. Already finished the 1st before I took the photo. Also had some sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves which arrived after I took the photo.

The dim sum was ok but not great.

The pork buns were kinda small, the chicken feet were well cooked but were missing hot peppers and the shrimp dumplings were over steamed which causes the wrapping to fall apart unless you wait for it to cool down but then the dumpling gets cold too. The sticky rice was actually the best of the lot.

Also ordered some BBQ pork chow mein to go to check it out because it's one of the dishes I use to measure the "quality" of a Chinese restaurant. The chow mein was WAY too greasy (a common problem). There was a lot of BBQ pork but not too many veggies in it. The problem is usually the opposite.

However, despite the disappointments, I'd go back if I'm in the mood for dim sum when I'm in Martinez again, especially since the Chinese restaurant that I use to go to in Antioch for dim sum doesn't serve it anymore.

It was really good. The bolgogi was house made. The kimchi was a brand that's made in NJ. It's the same one I usually have at the house.

When I get my Ooni 16 setup, I think I can do better. But that's 50% of the reason I go out. To try new things and get ideas for home.

Where r u? In New Jersey? Well, if I'm ever headed out that way, which isn't likely, I'll ask for directions. LOL! 😎

I'm bascially a carnivore pizza guy. The more meat the better.

FWIW, everytime I've taken a chance to try something "new," I've been gravely disappointed. So, it's not my nature to take a chance on such things, even though I'm Asian and like kimchi and bulgogi -- just not necessarily on a pizza. ;)

Hello fellow Asian brother lol

If you are ever through Toledo....

Village idiot and stubborn brother are a must stop for pizza (village idiot you can order full roasted garlic cloves , hand cut pepperoni, and chunks of sausage on pizza , they also have a super thin and cracker like crust, stubborn brother is the closest thing to NYC pizza here with premium toppings!)
