What's the best deal you've ever gotten in a knife?

Several years ago a local hardware store closed. All of their knives were half price. I got a Case Trapper for $17.00.

That reminded me of when they changed the knife display case at the Dept store I worked sporting good. I picked up Oregon made Gerbers:

I don't believe either was over $10, but considering that was 1990, I am not 100% sure.

A few years ago I was in Kentucky, antique hunting and came across a very old Knife shop.... I'm talking 5 years. The shop was so antiquated that it still had Spyderco stock from the 80's and 90's on the shelves in red, black, black and white, and blue and white boxes... Still selling at 80's and 90's prices..... I think I went temporarily insane.... I was grabbing box after box...... I whipped out a credit card and charged a lil over $5000 without blinking an eye.....
After I arrived home in Texas, I sat down and researched current values of my purchase. I had nearly $12,000 in knives and 9 NIB Spyderco "Q's"......

Lloyd Pendleton ivory handle boot knife for $225, Jimmy Lile "Big 7" drop point for $90, George Herron "Little Dude" for $135, Barry Wood prototype liner lock for $28. Probably many others in the 38 years I've been collecting.

Oh yeah... Scott Sawby Combat Utility for $200.

That's awesome

There aren't even really many normal knife stores around me

I got a handmade Gil Hibben knife with sperm whale tooth handle scrimshawed by Dale Fisk that was made for the 1975 40th Alaskan Fur Rendezvous. Came complete in the original wooden box with paperwork etc. Perfect condition. I won it at a small private auction for $125. I think I was the only one there that knew what it was.

I also purchased on Craigslist a vintage Marbles 7" stag on stag Ideal for $100 with the original sheath.

Trading a couple Buck knives for a Terry Baublitz Hudson Bay camp knife at a powwow.

Stumbling into a great price on a Case Bose wharncliff trapper, saved a ton of coin.

Traded a black blade tenasiuos and $40 for a NIB ZT 0350. I paid 33.33 for the tenasious . I bought a lot of three on that auction site for 99.99 w/ free shipping.

A custom John Kubasek Linerlock, 3 inch drop point damascus blade [George Werth damascus], blue anodized titanium handle with jeweled titanium liner and an opal inlaid thumb stud which I got through the cutting edge.com. This is my only safe queen and it awes all whom I've shown it. It originally sold for $450.00 and I got it in mint condition for $180.00 :)

Picked up a Buck 110 and a 105 with sheaths in mint condition for $3 each at a roadside stand. Just some local guy had dragged a bunch of stuff out of his garage and hauled it out by the main road to sell. Been by there a hundred times since and I've never seen anyone selling anything. Just a lucky day.

Hello there, old thread. I just purchased a CS Trailmaster for $40, which I thought was a good enough deal. The seller threw in an ESEE 3 for no more! Both knives are LNIB. That's compared to $275 retail and $420 MSRP!
