What's the matter with SOG?

One thing I just noticed is that the large Sogzilla is 4.75" long. I yield to no one in my likeing for many of Spyderco's knifes but it seems that it'll be a cold day in hell before Spyderco ever makes a folder that large.
I like large folders and I'll definitely be taking a look at it when it comes out, so pardon me if I don't join in the general disdain.

Ahem.

The Catcherman. It served as my food knife for many years, now retired due to the awesomeness of the Military.

To me everything I've seen from sog is either tacky or mall ninja crap. This is no exception. Well on second thought I've heard good things about some of their fixed blades.

Even CM will admit this one ain't too beautiful

Edit: I'm sure he has done some good work, but I think "massacre" could be a reasonably descriptive word if you are joking around

Yeah that Benchmade Skirmish looks to be a little fubar, but if he was aiming for a double sided blade then I can see that in the design, not saying they're pretty, most of his first ones weren't, but I tend not to criticize someone for their work.

If you have a personal problem with me, take it to PM or another thread!

 I don't see what the problem here is, can I not reply to posts in this thread?

Anyone else bothered that a seemingly higher and higher proportion of SOG knives are plain 420 steel? Not even 420HC. Their 420 steel products have a HRC listed. And it's low... in the order of 51-53. If this is true, is that even usable? (don't own any knives that soft). I noticed some are just labeled as "high carbon", which worries me. Is SOG going the way of Gerber?

I really like some of their fixed blade offerings, especially the SEAL Pup Elite, Tech Bowie. But they discontinued the Gov-Tac (very pretty blade IMO) and Daggert lines and seem to be pushing the inferior Fixation Bowie and Fixation Dagger in their place.

They're getting greedy it seems.

3G & HW.... settle down.

I took no offense to 3G's post. HW, you read into his post way too deep, you can call off the dogs... All is secure. :D

He's the OP, and he posted a comment pertaining to Matt's waves, I don't see how far off topic it could be seeing as he is the one who brought it up. I will drop the subject though.

I am a little curious 3G as to what bothers you about the SOG knife, I realize it almost has a spydie hole, but to me it looks like the type hole on a Tom Mayo TNT, so what about this knife is so threatening, is it that appealing?

wow.... SOG knifes getting worst and worst every year , but this is over the top. kinda funny

Didn't see your post till after my last one, I apologize for any hassles I may have caused misinterpreting the post 3G and company.

No prob... The 1 thing I hate about internet forums is that it can be very hard to deduce the intentions behind post.

I'm not liking my slow service, if I don't quote something my reply ends up showing up half way down the page having nothing to due with the post above, I'll leave it at that before this thread ends up derailed on cons of not being able to talk face to face.

What a blatant Endura ripoff. I'm glad I got rid of my SOG Twitch II.

I don't think I'll be buying anything else from them any time soon. :barf:

:thumbdn::thumbdn:Epic FAIL! in very poor taste too:barf:

WTF SOG?

The overall look of the knife is just too 'Spyderco.' This SOGzilla looks more like a Spyderco than a Benchmade Pika, and the Benchmade Pika is almost a carbon copy of a Spyderco design. I have listed in my previous posts the specific reasons why I feel SOG has taken the low road with this knife, and apparently, I'm not the only one who feels that way.

No problems on my end, hwpaintballer. I was trying to be funny with comments about ghetto-waves and Charlie Mike, not hurtful. It's all good!

:thumbdn: Very poor form for SOG to even think about creating these knockoffs, let alone actually doing it.

It seems they are downgrading their steels rather than upgrading.

Interesting now that you mention it. It used to be just their Fusion brand models that were China made, but by the looks of things, they are moving some of their SOG brand models to production there as well. It's similar to what Spyderco did, first having only their Byrd models made in China, then producing China made Spydercos, like the Tenacious and Persistance. Benchmade and Buck actually seem to be doing the opposite by trying to move production entirely back to the USA.

Whether the flex strength left in the Sog version is enough or not is one's opinion and I (for now) shall stick to mine because it's based on basic principles.

Sog did not gain by grounding that notch. It won't wave well (imagine your pocket getting caught, not as good release as the Spydie's wave) and the is significant reduction in flex (as well as others) strength corresponding to the cross sectional area of that section.

Don't want to offend but i'll speakum my mind :)
