Mine is just the old beatnik/surfer slang. Meaning to understand.
<snapsfingers while wearing goatee and says> Cool daddy-o, I can dig-it.

Trane Fan, I wonder what gave you the idea of this thread. :o
I'll never tell. You dig? :D ;)

Mine is from a mistaken German translation. I have a german last name and I thought that the name "Life Seeker" as in one who seeks to experience as much out of life as possible, would be cool.

Turns out my command of German is... shall we say... unsat. "Battle Seeker" is not what I intended to call myself. Ah well. As they say, a little bit of knowledge can get you jammed up pretty good. :o

same with mine i didnt spell it right :D :o

I love the muscle cars from the 70's and especially Dodge and when I was at Camp Gary Owen in Korea I was trying to set up an e-mail account because it was cheaper than calling. egdod was the one thing i figured would not be taken. So I have been egdod every since.

To this day, I believe it could have been a hit if they had just spelled the title "The Beast of Yucca Flatz". :(
Not sure that even adding the Z could have made that movie cool. "Red Zone Cuba" had a Z in it (same writer/director), and that one was even worse. Nearly impossible to watch, even with Mike and the Bots.

I was actually a member of a poetry forum for a while, and I noticed what a bunch of froot loops most poets were and they seemed to insinuate themselves into peoples personal business way too much, so I left and came back as  angrymob  and tormented them all for a while......then I got a life. :D

And I have a bad attitude, anyway, so it really does fit.

About ten to twelve years ago, I thought that my combination of excessive imagination, somewhat entertaining fiction writing and good artistic skills(all confirmed by others than friends and family ;)) could get me a job as a cartoonist (why oh why did I give up on veterinary medicine?). I drew some comics up, filled countless sketchbooks with comic book superheroes etc, and searched in vain for a studio name.

Then one Christmas, I got a long sleeve sweatshirt, with a wolf on the front, in the snow, and it said Silent Hunter. I love wolves, thought it was pretty neat, and called my "company" Silent Hunter Studios.

Well, I created an email account at Yahoo, later at Hotmail, and after I realized that I didn't feel like spending all my spare time sending submissions in to companies, or spending money that I didn't have to self publish, I decided to just focus on creating art for myself, and doing the occasional graphic design job for friends and family.

The name just stuck for this former mall ninja, and I decided to go with that when I joined here.

We did this over in the Cantina a while back:
Mine means "Stay away from our wimmen, ya big hairy aus-lander!" in Korean (I didn't listen, but my inlaws seem okay with it as long as the neighbors don't find out). Yah-man-inn means barbarian, more or less. My wife laid that on me either in reaction to the indoor knife throwing set up, the ever-raised toilet seat or some combination thereof shortly after we started dating and she was first exposed to my humble abode. She's just about got me housebroken, but it's an uphill fight.

I guess i could say that i picked it in anticipation of being a bali nut.

But it would be a lie.

It was complete random lazyness.

well this has been done a few times before but it has been awhile so.

ohoisin - a gaelic form of my last name, oh meaning children of and oisin meaning little deer, the most famouse Oisin in Irish lit. was the son of Fion McCuilcilaine (aks Finn McCool etc.) His mother was said to be one of the fair folk trapped in the body of a rowe deer. any way, my family name goes back Hissom, Hisson, then more likely Hession, O'Hession, Oh'Ossion etc.

Obviously, I like birds of prey, especially redtail hawks. Also, I love my little Honda Hawk motorcycle, in red of course, for a secondary meaning. Finally, you can imagine what my little red motorcycle does to my tail on a long ride... ;)

Man, thanks for posting this. Seriously, I've been wondering about your forum name for years. It's not a real word, but it doesn't sound that bad.

Why not a real word? German allows compound nouns.

My name, is first and middle initials plus my last name. I didn't want the temptation of anonymity to be a total idiot.

Lazarus Long was a fictional sci fi character from an obscure book (Robert Heinlein's Time Enough For Love ). He was a badass and was funny as hell as well as having the best quotes. See below:

http://www.musespace.com/musings/quotes/lazaruslong.html

-Yield to temptation; it may not pass your way again.

-Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.

-The small-mouthed variety of anarchist has spread through the Galaxy at the very wave front of the Diaspora; there is no need to protect them. But they often shoot back.

-Money is truthful. If a man speaks of his honor, make him pay cash.

-In handling a stinging insect, move very slowly.

-Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors - and miss.

-A whore should be judged by the same criteria as other professionals offering services for pay - such as dentists, lawyers, hairdressers, physicians, plumbers, etc. Is she professionally competent? Does she give good measure? Is she honest with her clients?

If you ever get a chance, read the book.

1) Nothing by Heinlein is obscure.

2) Lazarus Long was an on-going character, beginning with Methuselah's Children.
