Schrade began making the 272 in 1952 and discontinued the pattern in 1979. With no N.Y. in the stamp, yours would have been from the time at the end of the run.

SCHRADE PEANUT, Model 272. Just came in the mail today. :)
Anybody know how old this one is?

The scales on that one look like the scales used on some of the Imperial scouts with the phillips blade.

it is a LB 1 and compared to the LB 2 which is priced way above this much better. the LB 2 had staglon handles.

to me i have been lucky this weekend, first and foremost the H. Williams LB 1 and now this in the box 4 pin. can't wait to get it and see what serial number is on it.

just got it via mail my that was fast. can something be even better in person. this knife is so clean and perfect. thanks H. Williams for sharing.

I couldn't tell from the bad photos in the listing, but something made me take a chance, and sure enough, the handles on this new 834 are bone.

I thought his knife with the "muskrat" scales was pretty funny, but this has to be some sort of record! I had a little conversation with this nut awhile back about his "Waldens." (ahem...) He told me he wasn't interested in facts, just the money, ma'am (thank you very much).:eek:

I've been looking for a Schrade-Walden 834 in bone for some time now because i thought it likely that some were made. The 834 was being produced at the same time as the first 8OTs which are the ones with bone handles. I think the 834 was an even more popular pattern than the full size Stockman, so it makes sense that these had a short run of bone handles too.
Thanks Calvin. this is the first one i have seen. I do have a few in jigged Delrin that really look like bone.

O.K., gotta correct the BS i posted above. What i was thinking of is that there may be a 34OT in bone.
Hal just told me that i have an 834 in bone !
watch out, may be early dementia !

I also love that one. Nice catch. Did all the LB1 come with bails? I don't recall seeing that before but I still have a lot of Schrade lore to learn. Thanks for sharing.
