I also love that one. Nice catch. Did all the LB1 come with bails? I don't recall seeing that before but I still have a lot of Schrade lore to learn. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah LB-1s came with bails (it's a two-piece pin and loop assembly). I have seen a lot of them on eBay with a cheaper (one piece) wire bail though unlike the originals heavier and shapelier one. I figure these are "End Of Days" offerings quickly finished for auction with the cheaper bail. Please correct me guys if I am wrong.

Just got this one in the mail today, never seen one like it. Limited edition, Old Timer etch, 834UH on the tang. Go figure! Sorry for the crummy pics.

Interesting to be sure. The UH represents an "Uncle Henry" number AFAIK, but the scales look more typical to the Old Timer series. Didn't most, if not all Uncle Henry knives usually have the lighter colored Stagalon scales?

Some Uncle Henrys came out with dark, almost black scales and some with lighter "buckskin" colored scales. It is thought that during the process of perfecting the dying process that these anomalous scale colors were part of the learning curve. However, these do not appear to be a result of that learning process. These are black and sawcut much like the old timer delrin handles were. Its appearance makes me think that its and end-of-days knife, but I'm just not sure.

That is beautiful. I have some HW knives but that is the best looking stag i have ever seen.

I carry a 5OT most days and it is the perfect size knife to tote. Well done!

Extra nice stag. I haven't bought any of H. Williams yet but I love the way he toasts it. Great colour! Always quite "fat" and well matched too.

Three down and one to go. Still tracking the OTC80. These are 2000 SFO Edition knives. I think it is a strange name, calling them Old Timer Classics. But, they are nice knives with pretty bone handles.

Just received the OTC-94. # 7/8" trapper with a birdhook. Nice BIN. The hook is an interesting accessory.

Hal, those OTC's are very nice ! It's too bad that Schrade switched over to mostly Delrin back in the late '60s.
Were these OTC's copied by Taylor ? or did Taylor produce any knives that came in a similar looking tin ?

For sure they have somewhat copied the tin, and most Schrade knife patterns, but I don't believe they copied the "Old Timer Classics" to a T.

I just love to see your posts, Hal! Good stuff! Here are some golden oldies, butter and molasses. That 896K looks a lot better in person; my scanner doesn't do bright metal. It is a OVB sfo, Schrade Walden NY USA., and so tang stamped, but it has the Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett etch. They stopped selling knives with their trademarks about 1960.

Nice trio of Butter & Molasses Calvin. The slimline trapper has to be a rare one, and the fishtail switch was a nice one to come up with. Are the slimline and the auto Waldens or a Cuts?

I've got the knife, or at least I think I do. Same bone and tang stamp, but no etch.

That is for sure the 8OTC Chuck. Like the blue ropecut you have there, more than likely one that got out the door minus the etch and tin. The blue one did not get awarded a shield either. I've seen several 8OTC like that minus the etch, in particular from one seller that must have come up with a handful of those. Looks like the fancy shield is indeed the same one from the serialized red bone series. The red smooth minus the shield, a hybrid Heritage/8OT. Quite a bit of discussable knifeage packed into that picture Chuck.

just got this in and it completes my set of LB 7 style knives.
A in the box with the bling LB 7DP.
