Nice picture TE. Great trapper, huh? And Roland, good scores for you too. Is the Imperial version of that stockman the same as an 8OT? Sure looks like it.

Got these in today.

A 3rd Gen C642 that someone customized with stag handles.

One of my favorite recent additions, a 524SC. I didn't even realize they made a scrimshaw version of this great knife til I saw the auction.

A 498DU. Figure it was a decent deal at $22.

Finally, the Rolling Thunder II set with the Indy cars. I've heard there are 3 of these Rolling Thunder sets. I also have the drag racing set. Anybody know what the 3rd set is?

Roland, There are several other knives that go with the Jim Bowie Commemorative, They are the ones for "Daniel Boone", "Buffalo Bill". Also to go with them you could look out for the "Covered Wagon" and also the "Kentucky Rifle" they are all worth adding to the collection. I think that on an adveritsement for the Jim Bowie Commerative that the bowie depicted on the handles was antiqued for effect, so don't go cleaning it!

thawk, all the above mentioned comemmoratives are based on the 8OT frame.

Dave, love the set of Rolling Thunder knives, the SC524 is no slouch either! nice finds.

Rusty, a BIG thanks for info re antiqued effect on Bowie "shield". i was close to trying to polish it off !
still wondering if the "Jim Bowie" and others in this series you mention were made by Imperial in R.I. ? the dimensions are identical to the 8OT but is different from the 8OT and all it's variants that i have, in that the center liner is entirely cut away on the inside, instead of having short "ends".

Roland, I'm glad you got the message before polishing your Jim Bowie knife. The Daniel Boone and Buffalo Bill commemoratives were made by Imperial I'm not sure about the other knives, as you mentioned they are similar to the 8OT with differences mainly in the blade profiles which are not exactly as fitted to the 8OT models.

Pictured below are the Daniel Boone and Buffalo Bill Commemorative knives. Also a link to others from Larry' site. The Kentucky rifle was an SFO made for A.G. Russell I believe, cannot find a Catalogue cut for this model.

Since posting this earlier, I was checking out the Camillus page, thawk had answered a question regarding the Jim Bowie Commem, please see link below, also from Larry's site it has the flyers for the Daniel Boone & Buffalo Bill knives, Roland, It mentions on the flyer for the Jim Bowie knife about the antiqued knife badge.

wannacollect, both are excellent looking examples. I have looked in an old reproduction catalogue for Schrade Cut Co knives, the only one I can find that looks similar is the 2174W although it does not show it with the threaded bolsters, there are other similar knives shown with threaded bolsters but not your pattern. As we have come to learn anything or any variety can happen in knife manufacturing. something as simple as "no regular bolsters available so we will use threaded this time" Only a guess.

Wannacollect. Does your 2174 3/4 Equal End Jack from the 1920's have the quite scarce Half Moon Schrade Tang or the word Schrade stamped straight?
I have shown almost identical to yours on this forum with the Half Moon.Mine has main clip blade.

Larry, welcome back! Where ya been? It's been a while since you posted. The knife has the straight stamp, kind of puzzling with the threaded bolsters though. Everything else seems to fit.

Wannacollect, what's the closed length on that one? If it is the 2174, it wouldn't be 3/4 since that denotes a blade substitution from a spear to a clip.

Eric,
Oh I have just been working on cleaning up some old knives and buying knives. I got some REAL beauties lately.
The knife measures exactly 3 5/8" which is probably what they call a 3 3/4" knife right?

Larry,
So that knife is from the 20's huh, wow? I'm glad to hear that. No the Schrade tang stamping is unfortunately straight and not the rarer half moon, (see picture posted).

Add the mark Twain Barlow to this genre as well.

Also, those are some beautiful knives Rusty and Bill and Dave. Nice pictures too. That French Ivory Cigar is a dandy!

Dave that Stag 3rd Gen is great, and I still kick myself in the butt over cheapskating out on a C642 that Herman Williams did in Sambar Stag over a year ago. It went for about $125.00 and I would love to have it.

Wannacollect, no, 3 5/8" would be correct, they had knives right on up through the 3"-4" range in 1/8" increments. Seems to be a 2174 alright, unless there's a blade missing, which from the looks of that knife is doubtful :D

Here's a couple of recent purchases I was lucky enough to get my hands on. I added the other LB2-UH from my collection to finish the picture off with since it's not in the usual 2pc brown box. I have the paperwork for that one too, (but who knows where, it's in my knife stuff somewhere, L.O.L.).

And I have received word from the North Pole that Santa is inbound with these two for my son, who has been bitten by the knife collecting bug.

He is 9 and is doubtful that Santa is real. He and I only collect the USA made Schrades and he said if he got a LB2 and a LB3 NIB, he would know there is a Santa.....

He also asked for a LB4 but I don't think that neither one of us has been THAT good this year. :D
