I just acquired another one, not quite like the other ones. Another Schrade Walden 165OT NIB with the bling. This one is marked blade right with no serial and in the rectangular slip-top box, so a later SW knife.

It may be a later one, but it's still very nice. :)

Thanks Bruce. I won't know exactly when it was made until I can see the insert. Most inserts advertised new pattern releases and these dates are for the most part known. But a guess at this point is sometime in 1972. We know that they changed the company name from Schrade Walden to Schrade 1973 and that the earlier ones were serialized and tangstamped on blade left. I have a couple of those NIB, but didn't have the later one.

you do love your 165OT's. they are a very nice knife with a good feel to them.

Last night, I finally won a Schrade-Wostenholm bone stockman on eBay for a fair price-$29. If it's as nice as the pictures indicate I think I did pretty well.

just got a 4 pin LB 7 with staglon handles. serial number 1371. the seller when asked told me it had no serial number even though i told them it would be on the bolster below the stamping on the blade. adds to my way too many LB collection but i did not have one of the lower serial numbers of the LB 7's that were the precursors of the LB 8's.

I picked up these two Cutco's recently. Got the bone one from a flea market, the other from the bay. With the red liners and just the way the gold handle material looks, I'm not quite certain it's original, but I haven't had time to research it yet. No numbers on either one.

I really like it: it's a solidy made quality knife. The only odd thing I noticed is it has no serial number.
Is that normal?

Thanks Hal. I'm not saying my strategy is foolproof, but it has yielded better results than previous attempts.

From what I have seen, only the Schrade/Wostenholm knives that were sold in the brown boxes with the IX*L logo had serial numbers. I have seen others just sold in white boxes. Just guessing that the latter did not have serial numbers.
