Eric, thanks. Neat pictures. The CSC folks are even using a cardboard box from Schrade days !

FYI, "Canal Street Cutlery" was not their first name. I'll let Eric or someone else who remembers fill in the blanks.

Yes, it was actually going to be Walden Knife Co., but unbeknownst to them, the name was still under ownership. Not sure who the owners are though, could be Taylor or Blue Ridge, but possibly it may be the Simmons/Belknap folks as well. I know Schrade had to pay them a stipend every year for the use of their name. Do you have any idea Michael? I've actually got some correspondence here somewhere reflecting Schrade's dilemma, I'll have to see if I can find it. In the meantime, here's a shot of one of the actual knives that Canal Street had worked up with an etched tang stamp for sizing purposes. They had a number of knives done this way when they got the surprise "cease and desist" order. I like the new name anyway, I personally think a new knife company should have a new name, not one dredged up from the past:

The Green Monster has reared it's head several times on that Walden Eric!! Very nice find right there.

Thanks Russell! There was actually a local guy who had aquired these "protos" since they couldn't be sold. I had to beg and plead with him to get just this one. Luckily I had a knife he couldn't live without, so we made a trade.:D

The answer is here in the forum archives. IIRC, it was Rich Langston who broke the news. My memory is fuzzy, but I believe that TBLLC was the owner of the name who ordered them to desist. I could be wrong on that though. You could ask Rich or go archive diving.

Good for you, Dave! You and Hal must have a knife fairy sitting on your shoulder! Maybe some day it will be my turn! haha.

Thanks Calvin! Things have been coming up roses for me of late. I scored some top-of-the-line furniture for less than a tenth of what it sold for new as well. Good things come to those who wait! 2010 was really rough for me but things do come around if you "keep the faith". Cheers!

I scored another great deal today! It's the rare 2 blade 707UH (http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/articles/The Missing UH's.pdf) made for two years only and I got it at way below market value. The seller had no idea what he had since he listed it as $20.00 buy-it-now. Took me a half-second at least to make the call lol :D
I love a good deal, and I believe you got one Dave. ;)
While we're at it, here's my latest acquisition. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110757601234&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:1123 :)

Is there a list of the Sears numbers that are linked to manufacturer? I have a few Craftsman knives and I was told they were made by Camillus.

There is at least a partial list somewhere in this forum. Try a "craftsman" search. In general a 5 digit Sears # indicates Camillus as the most likely manufacturer.
