Hi Russell,

Chris, well done mate....2 genuine 3OT's now reside in Australia...as you know I've compared your 3OT thoroughly with my own and its absolutely dinkum...I have the Mint 2OT and 3OT from the Conference Room wall so easy to compare all others to the Schrade specimens which were owned and displayed by Herman Williams and are the ones displayed in Sargent's No2 edition. Herman has stated to me in personal email message that he believes that no more than half dozen ever made... all protos with the sheepfoot blade for new Old Timer line, and never proceeded with and never sold.....we have now accounted for 4 of those half dozen. One in very poor condition displayed on AAPK and another in better used condition also on AAPK...plus our two 3OT's so maybe still two others out there..but I wouldnt hold my breath as they were made 53 years ago in 1959.....it would seem it was Schrade cutlers/management that purloined the examples as Herman states they were not sold per se....I know the story how Chris <Bawana> obtained these together with other Schrade gems and my opinion is they originally belonged to Schrade employee...fantastic addition to your Schrade collection.....Hoo Roo

Congratulations Chris. I imagine the story of how you obtained your bag of "lollies" will remain secret, but it sure would make an engrossing read.

It's nice to see that examples of these near one-of-a-kind treasures are still out there, and haven't been lost or destroyed!

Hi Roland,
Sometimes it pays to go beyond an ebay transaction & ask if the have any more schrades they want to sell.
The fella I purchased them form had them handed down to him from an uncle that passed away,he was not interested in the knives.
I had no photos to work off just model numbers.

While the BB127 is not mint, I have waited a long time for an example.
Still need the Gaucho sheath but thought I'd put all 3 Buffalo Bills together for a picture.

Chris, very nice 881. The bone examples are the best of all the 881's. On the previous page, post #2806, i show the same knife but with Crafstman 9514 etch as well.

Chris, i bought ny 881 from a dedicated Craftsman collector and he said that mine is from v. early 1970's, i.e. just before Schrade-Walden became Schrade. Our two 881's are identical so i think yours is most likely from the same time period.
That said, both could be a bit older, like mid 1960's.

Codger, Hal, Larry, Eric and probably others know more about the dating of the bone 881s, but it has been my perception that Delrin took the handle world by storm in 1960 and 1961, and they didn't look back. I feel that your knives are considerably older than you are saying.

I'll check back with the collector i bought my S-W 881/Craftsman 9514 from. Says he has all of the knife pages from every Sears catalogue from about 1920 & on. I too thought it was older than early 1970's but accepted his dates as they are catalogue based. Maybe he made a mistake. I will report back with evidence.
