There is not a fierce collector demand for folding hunters, so I have been able to get a "few;" hehe. Here is my latest, in the paperboard box with tiny brass hinges and a stone. Good etch, rare sheath, too.

Calvin, that's a great find ! Very rare to find a Folding Hunter unused and many have lost the original tip on the Clip blade.
I collect them, esp. the single blade pattern, 125OT. But i don't have that basket weave sheath. The sheath makes this complete set (box, knfe sheath) a very special one.
I'm still looking for a bone handled 225 or even better 225H.

That "is" nice! I don't recall seeing that sheath before either. :)

Are the single blade ones more rare? I have a 125OT with original sheath in good user condition. The blade does have a bit of wobble side to side, but locks up tight.

Certainly on ebay i see a lot more 25OT's than 125OT's and the older Schrade-Walden ones are nearly always the 2 blade version.

Congrats Cal! I was rootin' for ya!

I've had it for a while, and pardon the hasty photos, but here's what I'm talking about.

Bruce, that's a Schrade-Walden 125OT. I've seen very few of those (but plenty of Schrade 125OT). I think the tapered sheath you have is the best of the sheath variations for this knife. Nice knife & sheath. Well worth keeping.

Thanks Roland. YUP, That's why I shot a closeup of the inscription. ;) I wonder how many variations of the sheath there were?

Bawana, 1985 was the year. They did the 8, 34, and 108, and one could purchase them in a set in a little case. One of these sets recently sold on the auction site.

I'm curious and maybe one of you guys knows the answer. The red bones in the box set are serialized to match, but I have noticed that the single red bones that come up from time to time are also serialized. Is there any connection? I have often wondered if they were first produced as sets and maybe the sets didn't go over so well, so they began breaking them up and selling them individually. The red bone set I have I had to piece together, so my serial numbers do not all match. The 108 and 34 match, but the 8 is a bastard to the set because the one that came with the other two appears to have been an incomplete heritage series. Pictures below.

Nice knife, Ray. When I see the tobacco knives from Schrade, I have bittersweet memories. After a full half century of tobacco use (which means abuse, of course), I have, by the Grace of God, been free of it for 5 years and 78 days. I would not be here today stealing your favorites off ebay were it not for that. Sorry for the diversion, but I hope the users out there find the strength to free themselves and live in good health to old age for themselves and their families.

good on you! i was lucky growing up in the 60's and 70's to be allergic to tobacco so i couldn't go that way (not that i didn't try, more than once, duh!)

On those red bone OT's, it was Big C Sales who commissioned the knives. There were 2400 of each knife done, and I believe they were spread out as far as release dates, with the 8OT being the first. That Schrade slip may actually have been in the brown box with the first knife. I have no idea how the case was offered, but I don't think it came out as an entire set all at once (at least not initially). VERY nice set Hal!
