"Musty Basement" i know what you mean. i just got "The Spirit of St. Louis" S.W.CUT./K74 U.S.A. Keen Kutter. all perfect in the black box with cover sleeve stamped with "Spirit of St. Louis" etc. this and Brady's "Buffalo Bill" are both from 1974 i think.
and also a Schrade Walden 218 mint in the original tube.
both these had been described as from old hardware store closeout of 20 years ago. and i believe it, 'cause i got that "Musty Basement" smell too.

Try putting the box and papers in a tupperware container with an open box of baking powder in with it. It might pull the smell out of it.That and some good oil on the knife.

Here is a mint Schrade Walden fishing knife w/staglon handles and sheath I received awhile back. Isn't it great to find one that has been sitting in a dresser drawer for almost fourty years ! ! I noticed there was one that just very recently sold, almost like mine, it was in the tube though, but no sheath. It had a "fish" on the shield and not stamped "Schrade Walden" like mine. I have seen both types of these knives before. What I want to know is which version is older? Also mine has no model # on the pile side like I think the one that just sold did.

Wanna: i don't know the answer, but what a beautiful pristine knife and sheath you have ! i think it's reasonably rare ?

Tennknifeman,
I JUST LOVE your "Imperial" Prov. R.I. Kamp-King Outdoorsmen set ! ! ! ! ! I like the old fashioned cardboard box quite a bit too, that is also in great shape ! !

Wannacollect, that is a FINE looking fish knife!:thumbup:

And Bruce, I think that Imperial set is the best in the lot , you don't see many with the compass/glass combo still intact. While you're there, I just wanted to say that the packing job you guys do on the auction knives has improved 1000%. Boxed and bubble wrapped is definitelty the way to go:thumbup:

DaveT63,
I have two LB1-UH's with brass bolsters. I myself thought they are very rare too because you hardly EVER but never see them. The only two I have ever seen, I bought. I lost out on that one you posted just now. I sold one almost mint about a year ago and it only brought around $45. I thought it would of went for much more.

Nice group Dave! I'm liking the Florists knife most of all, Nice shaped handles.

After spending over 8 hours at the VA Hospital today, (meeting with the hand surgeon this morning & having a tooth pulled this afternoon) I had a very pleasant surprise when I picked the mail.

My 8041 arrived today! I bought this 1983 Whittler 2nd for a user. It turns out that it is one of the only Schrade seconds I own that I can actually spot what makes it a second;the chip out of the bone near the bolster.

I am very pleased with my new user! :D:D

Dale

:thumbup:Nice one Dale!!

Does the main have the etch (Trade Everlasting Sharp Mark) on it? The three I have all have that etch. The one I am still Huntin is the Muskrat!:grumpy:

what a nice 'second' dale--looks more like a one and a half!! have'nt got one of those 1983's yet. that heritage series is nice stuff. nice grab you got there!-----brady

Thanks Shawn & Brady.
I love the pattern, especially the Open Stock 804, with carbon steel blades.
The bone handles I fancy shield help make up for having to tolerate the stainless steel blades. :D

Does anyone happen to have a carbon steel coping blade for a 804?
I have one that is broken on my 804.

Thanks,
Dale
