Thanks for the compliments folks! Roland, I WISH I had a pipeline to the old Cut.Co.'s, just got lucky I guess. You really don't see many ebonies come up, seems the cocobola handles are much more numerous.

Jackie, nice finds! I really like the wondawood 148:thumbup:

Couple more for your perusal, first is an old Cut. Co. hawkbill. It's been used, with scratches pits, broken tip and the like, but it's still in great shape for such a utilitarian knife. Second up us a Schrade Walden Zephyr. Someone else on here has one, is it Joel or Hal? I can't remember, but I've always liked the fact that it had a name and it's own box, so I had to grab this one when it came up. Reminds me of the old Maher and Grosh knives, seems every one of them had a name. The quality of the little pouch surprised me. It's lined leather or vinyl. I thought it was the later cheaper thin plastic version. Enjoy!

Nice Hawk, with the pre-peachseed jigging Eric!
Hal has the other Zephyr; great penknife set!

Yes. A Zephyr twin for sure. Nice score. There for a long time no one bid much on that guy.

Well done on both of the above Eric! Superb jigging on the handles of the Hawkbill. Was that on e-bay earlier in the week? Looks familiar.

Russell

boy if that old hawkbill could talk...........nice bone!!, nice examples and superb pics------------------brady

Love the bone on that hawkbill!

Thanks guys! Russell, yes it was off E-bay, actually relisted because the previous buyer didn't pay. I had been kicking myself for not making a bid on it previously, so I placed one for what it had sold for. Wound up going for about five bucks less, and I'm a happy camper:D I did just spend about an hour giving it a good bath, there must have been a pound of pocket lint between the liners and against the backspring. Needless to say it really hampered the walk and talk, now it'll snap a finger off.
That's an important thing for those of you who regularly use a slippy and get it fairly gritty and dirty to remember. It's very important to keep abrasive materials out of the pivot area of the tang. If you don't keep it clean, eventually the dirt will act like sandpaper and grind enough metal off the rear and sides of the tang and the backspring to make the blade lazy. Have you ever gotten an older well used knife (that's all original) and found that, say, the pen blade had no snap left, and the backspring was actually sunk into the knife when there was no pressure on it? Likely this was caused by steel abrasion. That's why the old companies were so adamant about "Oil The Joints", it definitely prolonged the lives of those often used tools.

these are not rare, but the 125OT is such a wonderful knife, i keep buying them.
first up is used, ebay, from a non knife seller. he had bought the knife in 1976 and had proudly used & cared for it ever since. this bit of 'personal contact history' makes the knife "better than mint" to me. however he was disappointed that it went to Canada.

next is a first for me; one of the "Ellenville-Wawarsing" knives, this one from 1987.

Roland and Dave, excellent finds, both the vintage and the new! Those 4th of July knives have become a bit of an obsession with me:eek::D

I'd have to agree on that Ulster jack as well:thumbup:

Brady, great snag, and a low number as well! Now of course you'll be wanting to hunt down the other sets from that series:D
