Excellent finds Hal and Charlie! That 285 package is incredible!

Charlie, I've seen very few sheepfoot barlows from SCC, most have a clip or spear. Didn't you snag one off A.G. as well? Or was that an Ulster?

Eric
I have a couple or three; I will have to do a group photo.

I can't call these my latest Schrades, but I'm proud of them and I think they sure look good in their new home. I finally finished my display case and want to show them off. Starting in the top left corner and moving to the right and down by group are my Old Timers consisting of an 89OT, 108OT, 858OT, 34OT, and 8OT, an I*XL stockman.

On the bottom row is a Schrade Limited Edition Old Timer with brown/honey brown jigged bone scales, a Heritage edition stockman with brown bone scales and my open stock knives consisting of an 861 slim stockman, 855, 825 stainless, two 896K, an 808, 834, and 881 open stock. I hope the you guys like the pics, but they don't do them justice. Still plenty of room in there to start filling in with some Uncle Henrys :D

I'd totally agree with Dave on that one! They do look good in the case for sure. The Schrade/Wostenholm I*XL Stockman being one of my favorites, real beefy in the hand.

Came in the mail this lunchtime, two blade Congress pattern, tang stamp reads,

E Weck
& Co
New York

Do you think it's Schrade bone?

Edward Weck is still in business today making Hospital instruments, any idea on the age of this one, 20's 30's is my guess, although with those bolsters maybe earlier.

Russell.

Nice knife, Russell. BRL seems to say that Schrade made knives for Weck ca. 1940, but gives very little info. I agree it looks older.

Picked these up off of fleabay this week. First up is an Ulster 58OT. I liked the age on this one. For being 45-ish years old, I thought it was appropriate.

Next is an Imperial Stainless. Unfortunately the etch isn't as clear as I would have liked, but I got it on a buy-it-now for $7.50 which included the shipping. I figured I couldn't go wrong.

Great finds Aggiebuilder! Say, that Ulster's about the same age as me, and in better shape too!

That Ulster is never up at 1 a.m., playing on the forums !

Russell, Bring that Weck along on Thursday. We'll have a show & tell.

Aggiebuilder,

Nice set of knives. Nice job on the display case as well!

Now.........here's the novice question................

How do you keep the knives in place in the case? Magnets??

Tom

There's a story behind that. Behind the knives is a 2" thick polyfill cushion you can pick up in the fabric section of Hobby Lobby. The maroon cloth is a remnant of some material they had there that I wrapped the polyfill with and pinned on the back side. I also put a silicone packet in there behind it to absorb any trapped moisture. The plexiglass in the door sits about 3/8" away from the cushion and the intent was to have the plexi push the knives into the cushion and friction hold them in place. For the larger knives it worked great, for the smaller ones not so much.

To fix the problem I bought some extra long stick pins and strategically placed them around the knives so that the pin heads were "hidden" around the bolsters. It works just like an oversized pin cushion.

I signed up for a photobucket account today and will edit my post with the display pictures with what will hopefully be better pictures that will give away the secret. Glad you like the knives and the case!

Chuck

Nice job on the display Chuck.

Thought you'd like this 1965 advertisement. Those Imperials with the thick staglon are nice knives.

Russell, regarding your "Weck" knife, here is a similar one; 3 7/16" Camillus/New York/USA, obverse: 40

camillus003-3.jpg

bolsters and pins are not identical to yours and i'm not sure if the jigging is the same, but mine just more worn ?
i'd like to know what you, and other collectors also more experienced than i, think.

Aggiebuilder,

Now that you've told the secret I have gone back and examined the photos a little closer and I see exactly what you did!

Nice....................Thanks for the info.

Tom:thumbup:

Roland, glad you posted the Camillus version of the Weck knife which is very similar mine.

To go further I saw another Weck knife on e-bay, "see link" It is from a finished auction.
The knife is mint, with real nice looking bone, which is probably the same bone used originally on your Camillus Roland, or very simlilar. As we all know Schrade were making knives for Camillus and vice versa. I'm sure any combination of bone was used between the two companies hence the SFO bone combinations.

i don't really need any more of the 125 or 225OT pattern, BUT, i do find it hard to pass on a good example about to sell for "peanuts". so i keep getting more.

Been a while since I've posted anything. Economic conditions here have slowed my buying considerably.

512OT and an 834UH with solid brown delrin handles:
new083.jpg

An old, but new looking SCC Gents knife. It has either "10K" or "14K" on the bail, but my eyes aren't what the used to be.
new095.jpg

An old CutCo cell-handled jack, and an Ulster scout with sawcut delrin handles and the Boy Scout shield. The blade etch is still vaguely visible.
