One of the last nice offerings from the company before they went bankrupt.

Nice Find! That knife is a Schrade "CSW98"

Schrade started to produce those flyers and knives in 2003 for their 100th Anniversary in 2004.
A number of knives have found their way to eBay. However, the knife and cigar box is much harder to find.
Schrade had some very collectable bone handled knives in the pipeline, for 2004.
The Blue Rope-cut bone ACB knives were the other set, in the pipe-line for 2004.
To date I have not seen an ACB knife cigar box, they too were meant to come in a cigar box...Ken

My new (to me) pawn shop special. 197UH Cat Paw. Now I have one of the newer handle molding and one of the older handle molding style, (on the bottom).

Nice. I think the 877 with the locking master blade is quite rare. Only 2nd one i've seen.

Yep. Only 1990-1991. They bring a healthy price on ebay sometimes. I got lucky on this one to replace another one I used to have. It came with box and papers too. I got it for the retail price in '91.

The price list in my 1991 Display Unit, has the 877UH listed at $34.95... Ken

The 197UH is also hard to find.
Schrade was still sending those 197OT, to the dealers in January 2004.
I have an invoice for six of them dated February 2004.

That's interesting. Shipping knives in '04 that stopped being cataloged or price listed in '89. I guess the difference in the scales reflects that time span. Thanks for that. Yep, I paid $35.05 for the 877UH, 6 bucks for priority mail. I think that $17.51 is a good deal on the 197UH too. I was over due for a couple of bargains. Nice displays, btw.

I've read that Schrade had quite a lead time before they left the warehouse for the store, but fifteen years?
I guess anything is possible in the crazy world of knives. ;)

I discovered my mistake seconds after I did that post and changed / or though I changed my post to "197OTs".
I know they stopped listing the 197UH in 1989..Ken

Funny. I started to change my post but then it still says 197UH in the quote bubble, so I'm confused. I guess I don't know what a 197OT is. The 194OT ran to '04

Sadlebum, I have had a bad week, and my dyslexia is not helping.
I got mixed up with the 897UH, so I had to look in my collection for a 197UH.
Now I know what a 197UH is, and now I remember it was a hard to find knife and came in a brown box.
I have not looked at my knives in the brown boxes for many years. Sorry about the mix up... Ken

No apology necessary. I have diminished cognitive function, confusion and memory loss after having brain surgery. Few people are more absent minded than me. I get it. I've been struggling with my health this week myself. Kinda funny. Maybe that's why we go round and round so much sometimes. I didn't mean to take a jab at you or anything. I'm genuinely confused, lol. I gotta laugh cuz it's no fun being depressed about it. I embarrass myself often these days. And honestly, it's not hard these days to find someone who is willfully dumber than us. LOL! It's the middle of the night here too. Can't sleep. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Here's a clean little 835Y Schrade Walden advertiser.

It is a 3 5/16" medium stockman. It came complete with the plastic tube. Snagged it on a BIN from you know where. Hard to find these birdseye rivet stockman without cracked frames on the rivets. It was pictured closed only so I was glad I took a chance on it.

Some day I'd like to visit Alpine TX and the surrounding area.

That was a great snag Hal, can't get more minty than that!

Wow ! What a knife for at least 43 years old, likely older. Probably never out of tube except for ebay picture. Are the blades carbon steel ? Or, were advertising knives stainless from ~ 1930's on ?
If carbon steel and got ugly with rust it might make the business being advertised seem shoddy, subconsciously, but it would influence your opinion.
Or, is this just too much WA. State herb ??

Its carbon steel, there is some stain on the tip of the sheepsfoot blade. I think you are right about never out of the tube. I oiled the "joints" Joe...
