Thanks guys!! :) I'm liking the open stock stuff a lot!
The same Schrade 881 open stock knife I found in a gun shop in Sydney Australia back in 1973, has been my EDU since then.
Schrade has always been a "must have" knife in Australia... Ken.

A number of loiterers here on the Schrade subforum are rather fond of the 3 9/16 inch 'slenderino' stockmans, including the 899 you show, made in that form right up until 1986, by catalog entry. Codger is reputed to hold a small reserve of the general pattern, in case of emergencies, including one or two 897 UHs.

Here is a 1950s 899 in red bone.

Here is an uncommon example of an uncommon pattern. The 3 1/2 inch stockman. This one has the punch blade and was made for the 'Jack Knife Ben' store. The pattern number here is 891 with a punch blade, and it would be the 890 in the (slightly) more common version with clip, sheepfoot and spey. All of the 3 1/2 inch versions are rarely seen. I ...uhh... have some other ones.

896Y slendereeno and 890Y. These are very rare knives. Yellow celluloid, stable so far. Fingers crossed.

That is some uncommon color variation on that Delrin. Nice!

It looks like a newer/later one to me with less dye in the scales. Not as pretty as some of the others. But the price was right to snag my first one. SAK's knife is PURDY! And your bone handled one is the king. First time I've ever seen one in bone.

just got this one in. my favorite knife redone by the best. a Herman Williams LB 7 with Ram's Horn. what is special is that it is a 4 pin no serial number. i have one that is my EDC.

Here is a John Primble 926 AKA Schrade Walden 899, a slenderino, circa mid 1950's. I like the dark tan peachseed up against the patina.

Thanks to a trusted forum member for a heads up on this nice user.

825, 855, 895, 899, these and other open stock patterns continue to confuse me. Is there a list posted here that gives the pattern #'s for the open stock knives along with the closed length and blade types & arrangement ?
