Here's a clean little 835Y Schrade Walden advertiser.

It is a 3 5/16" medium stockman. It came complete with the plastic tube. Snagged it on a BIN from you know where. Hard to find these birdseye rivet stockman without cracked frames on the rivets. It was pictured closed only so I was glad I took a chance on it.
That is a pristine example.

I dowloaded a pic for someone else before i realised it was few pages back...

So heres my lil Schrade all cleaned up....I have most of serial number removed from reverse
of blade.......Not sure why someone would engrave it like that anyway?...

The bottom Craftsman's blade is brighter than it looks, it's reflecting my dark shirt.

I threw this on the Trad Barlow thread but it is probably more appropriate here....

Grandad's Barlow 1. That's a Roman numeral I. GDB-I

1975 and approx 12000 produced according to a post by Irv if I remember correctly.

I threw this on the Trad Barlow thread but it is probably more appropriate here.... Recently got my mitts on this beauty. If any of the "Schrade Addicts" can pass on more info on this knife it would be appreciated in particular an approximate date and what do the letters.. "G D B I" stand for. Thanks in anticipation

The tang stamp is "GDBI" not GDB-I,
Why would Schrade use a Roman Numeral on an American knife?
Did Schrade ever use a Roman Numeral on any knife they ever made?
I would say, it could have been a mistake, for an "L" for "Limited",
The blade etch is "Grand Dad's Old Timer Barlow Ltd"
Just a thought, Ken

The tang stamp G.D.B.I.

I would say it's a purposeful use of the Roman numeral "I" to denote the model number of the knife which is GDB-1.

I like to question history, and never try to change it.
If you do not ask questions, and question answers, you do not learn much.
I am always the first to say I'm wrong... Ken

I also note: Schrade made an Old Timer (8OT) and an Old Timer II (34OT) in this set.
Not to forget the Sharp-finger.

Here is a 2 7/8" Schrade Walden Lobster knife 878 Stainless with advertising for "Process Computer". Ya, So what's the big deal ? you might say. O.K. Oldies, think back to before 1972 ---- Computers ? who even heard of "computers" back then ? Basically only a few researchers in a few Universities and the Military.

There is a secondary blade on the top deck that i did not open. If my recollection of early computer history is correct, then this advertising knife is at least 10 years ahead of it's time. Anyway, makes it neat to me.

Here are two 2 1/2" Schrade Walden Pen knives that 'should' be Ulster branded i think.
The "O.V.B." and "Our Very Best" etch along with "53Y" i think i have seen this style of etch and this pattern # on Ulster Pen knives.
Both of these are marked the same. Unopened one is more used.

And here is an Oodball: 4" Premium Serpentine Stockman, marked on master tang: Schrade/Walden/N.Y. U.S.A. and 879 on the backside. The shield is stamped with the Henckels Twins logo.

It is a solid, tight feeling, crisp snaps, knife; meaning: Very Nice !
Is the profile of this clip blade the typical one for the 8OT ?

Same blade as the 8OT. Same tang stamp and same match-strike pull.
Even the same chamfer alone the top of the blade.
Same blade as my EDU 881.... Ken

895 red peachseed bone, 3 9/16 inches closed slender stockman, 1950s manufacture. New and unused, with some black ick.
