yep, looks like parker.....he did work with schrade at one time didn't he?
don't quote me,just asking?
nice lookin ole knife....
jd
Quoted! Yes. Schrade and Imperial were associated companies. They produced at different pricepoints. Knives were made for Parker by both. He didn't keep any supplier long. Or partner.

Here is my latest Schrade Walden #766......Can anyone give me an idea when it was made?
Knife has never been sharpened,or carried as far as I can tell....The handles are short
on both ends enough to slide a matchbook into crack......The stain look on blade is just
oil I put on it earlier.....

I'd like to know a estimated value to if that's ok?
Thank you,JD

Schrade-Walden dates are 1947-1972. Your knife looks to be a very nice example. I have a good idea of the ebay price range but i am unsure if it is o.k. to discuss monetary value here.

Here is a little before and after action on a Schrade Walden 898K with a sort of pen blade, punch, thingamajigger on one end. I'm calling it an 898K, but it doesn't have a tang stamp saying so. I also just picked up a Schrade Walden 906 American Army Officer's Knife and a Ulster Electrician's knife recently.

I am waiting for this one in the mail, an 834.

That is some pretty red bone. Nice score! Do you have any thoughts to share about the pen blade/punch on that "898K" above? I think that is the first one that I have seen with that blade configuration. I have seen knives with that type of pointed blade before, where there is a blade like that for use as an awl for leather and such. Maybe just an odd ball?

It does not seem to conform to either the 896K nor the 898K for blades. It is not a punch blade; it appears to be a pen. Some non-catalog items drifted out of the factory over the years, including some so-called lunch-box knives made by employees for their own use.

Some really nice knives here guys. :)

I can't believe how nice Schrades version of a S.A.K. is, It looks to have some serious quality. Have you used it, or is it just for collection purposes?

Managed to picked this C627 from the 3rd Gen Collection up early this week. :D Looking for it in the mail today. Now I only need one more to finish of the 3rd Gen Collection. I'm sure it will take months or years before someone will come off of one for a good price that is in good shape. I came across the last one but the main blade was narrowed from a bad sharpening job. :( So the hunt is still on for a C628. The last picture is one I saw on Google & got me on the hunt for the collection. Low and behold it came from this forum. Most likely Mr. KGOLD hahaha. He sure does have a nice collection of Schrade's.

I sure would like to use the 906, but not this one. It's built like a tank with a lot of heft to it compared to the average scout/camp knife. The red handles are solid hard plastic and the inner workings and configuration of the knife is somewhat confusing because of all the blades that open from different places on the knife. Something of an engineering marvel compared to other utility knives that I have seen. Especially from that time period, 1957-1963. Quality is first rate right down to the mirror polished blades and extra nice shield. Even used ones that I've seen are pretty pricey so I doubt that I will ever have a 906 EDC. I have Ulster scout type knives and Leathermans to fill that role. Leathermans aren't as 'cool' as the 906, but cost of the Juice line of Leathermans is about the same or less as used 906s that I've seen, from a practical standpoint. And you get pliers. The 'cool' factor and history of the 906 kinda makes me want to display it in a glass case.

Thanks. I thought maybe you had seen one before or something. It's just another neat odd ball knife in my collection. :D

I notice that your new 834 has a different blade on it than usually seen, instead of a spey or sheep's foot. Nice!

Cal's red bone is typical of an 834 in 1954. The 833 had a sheepsfoot and pen blade. I'm not sure exactly when they changed.

Thanks for that info. I was thinking that I had only seen those blades on bone handled ones. I wondered too if they considered it a spey blade or if there was another name for it.

Try this one

I realize it's before the company was Schrade Walden which wouldnt match the tang stamp thus the date made but that knife is almost an exact match to my eye.

Good eye, fatcity.
I'm still hanging on to the idea that the small blade is a type of punch blade that I've seen on other knives. Mainly because of the blade's sharp point and contour. It has not been "sharpened" into that shape. It was made that way at the factory. The blade is full, taking into consideration there is still plenty of 'hook' at the base of the edge and it has a nearly straight spine with little if any radius to the point like pen blades. Now I just have to prove it somehow. :D

In the immortal words of Shakespeare, To be, or not to be, used that is. :p
Yeah, I would be torn as well. I would so want to throw it into my pocket for everyday use, but......
PS, thanks for the extra info about it. :)
