What's your newest Buck knife

I like that the bolsters on the 500 are stainless.

You are making me wonder. Both knives arrived in their sheaths. The 501 had a slight bit of tarnish on the bolsters and liners that I cleaned up for pictures. The 500 had no tarnish on the bolsters or liners. DLT's site lists them both as nickel/silver. Buck's site lists the 500 "Eagle Scout" as SS.

I will have to take a look in the morning with better light. The color looks slightly different. I am thinking that the 500's bolsters are stainless. I am not sure how I would tell other than a hardness tester (ain't going to happen) or wait and see if the 500's bolsters start to tarnish with time.

yeah that's right isnt it...the Duke 500 was stainless..the other 500s series were nickel silver...if im remembering right.

I always sorta wondered why the 500 was the only stainless bolster folder.
To me it makes sense to have a stainless edc knife.

Did they not sell well?
I'm only speculating but my guess is that the 112 Ranger, being very close in size, is the model of choice in many cases. It certainly has a better in hand feel and now that Buck offers a 112 drop point as a website exclusive, sales may have dropped on the 500.

That is a NIB BG42 112 and the end of a "Grail" Quest I have been on since 2007. Out of the hundred or so blades Joe Houser had Buck made in 2002 because of interest on the Forum here most were put into 112's collectors sent in (including a Bucklite!) Buck also gave you the option of buying a new 112 and that was what I received! It's just not even every decade that you find a NIB BG42 112..

If you tap the picture it becomes clear..I have just a little sadness because the great hunt is over after 20 years of looking. It's not the only rare 112 on my must have list but it was the number one! Funny all these years I looked for one I never thought or considered I would find one of the few Buck put in a new knife. I thought it would be a loose blade or more likely a purpose built Custom. It's only the second one I have actually held in my hand or even seen other than pictures. There was two other rare 112's in the box a Damascus and a sample blue Poly Pearl in a Nickel silver frame I have to get decent small sized pictures to post but this is the only one I have dedicated hundreds of hours looking for.

My early birthday present from my daughter arrived today.

1999 vintage 110 I picked up recently.
She had plenty of verdigris on the brass when I got her,but cleaned up a treat.
A light rub with 1500,some metal polish, and a bit of oil and she's looking good.
Factory edge had a bit of a burr,a quick swish on the leather strop and she's back to hair popping sharp.
Solid lockup with not play, scary sharp and good to go!
Love the colour of these scales, reminds me of a Tiger.🐅
