What's your newest Buck knife

That's a VERY nice group of 112's! Especially the BOTM with the grooved Cocobolo. I have yet to try and carry one of the Automatic 112's but it's on my very short list of 112's I MUST buy. Every one in that pic is a great Buck.

Thank you! The spring on the Auto is an interesting design. I watched a video where the narrator pointed out that the blade doesn’t deploy with a great deal of force unlike many Autos where it feels like the knife might fly out of your hand.

After getting one myself, I see what he means. It opens plenty fast enough to lock up but it doesn’t overdo it.

As an example, It was about 19 degrees outside when the mailman delivered the Auto. The knife was pretty cold and the blade would not fully deploy under the spring tension.

My first reaction was that it was defective but then I remembered that video comment. As soon as the knife started to warm up, it worked fine.

My point is that Buck designed the spring to deploy the blade “just right” as long the temps aren’t too low. The bitter cold was just enough to slow it down.

That kinda reminds me of the white handle Bucks Buck had in the 60's that cracked in very low temperatures. The one auto 112 I bought (hoped for a odd one) I gifted to my son Richard for his birthday and the few times I fired it I was a little surprised by the 'force' it had..But that was in Florida.

My 110 auto elite has gotten better after using it and getting broken in. At first it was sluggish and wouldn’t open completely to lock. I think the back spring is kinda like a scrub brake, I've held the lock down and it fires lots harder. I’ve cleaned and oiled it and it seems to keep getting smother with continued use and fires with a little more force now.

I recently obtained three knives for carry. When I purchased the 55 BOTM last month, I also got a standard 55 "The Knife" exclusively for carry. It has been in my pocket pretty much since I received it. I have been carrying it in a leather slip, thus the heavy tarnish for a new knife. It also got me on a rabbit trail for similar knives. [One thing I hate about this community, it gets me finding more things that I need to spend money on... LOL]

Last week I received the 505 Knight. Definitely a user, but that is what I wanted. Came with a decent edge, but needed some cleaning up.

When I arrived home last night from a day trip the 503 Prince was waiting in my mailbox. The bolsters are pretty banged up, but the edge is in very good shape. As if it had been banging around with other stuff, but only lightly used. (It was a TSA confiscated knife.) I didn't realize 503 was so similar to the 55 until I had it in hand. A quick internet search brought me to this old site: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/buck-503-and-055-comparison.1404015/

The 55's size similarity to the 503 is the main reason that I bought my first 55. I had been using a 503 and I found myself sometimes wanting a Clip blade. Then I was like "Hey wait a minute, a 55 would be perfect"!

Big grip finger-grooved leather 124 with copper pommel. Honestly, I think this was made for Andre the Giant's hand. 😱 Look how it dwarfs the already large-handled stock 124. Almost a two-handed knife. 🤣 Overall, I like it. 🤩 Big fan of one-of-a-kind knives.

Came in the mail today. Not too happy about the box?😡 The shipping box doesn’t seem to have any impacts or damage?? Did the person packing my knife drop it and then say screw it and put it in the shipping box anyway???😢
That sucks.

A while ago I purchased a BOTM on the "bay" and the seller thought the box the knife came in qualified as a shipping box.🥜🧠
Maybe these 2 folks are related? lol.

Nice knives tho.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I picked up a pretty sweet little 102 yesterday to be the little brother to my 118. Funny, blades are about the same size with the handle being the size difference.
So I've done enough homework to know my old four spacer 118 is of the 440c vintage. (I bought it new)
I'm about to sharpen my new little friend but I'm not sure if it is the old 440c or the 425m. There seems to be a pretty clear definition of change over dates for the folders, but I'm getting conflicting info on the fixed blades.
So, it is a three line stamp with no year mark and two fiber spacers.

The edge is still factory grind, but has micro chips all along the edge.

(Now that I've finally figured out how to post a picture, I'll post a glamour shot post sharpening.)
