Is also the only knife I have or seen with grappling hooks.
Re. the 'grappling hooks...
Copied from buck-184.com
Regarding the grappling hooks, these are described it the patent which CAN BE SEEN HERE. In brief, the patent discusses the attachment of the grapples to the quillon with sufficient strength to support a load of 600 pounds and reference is made to a casting line. With this said, it is generally accepted that using the knife as a grappling hook, which implies the act of tying a rope to the pommel and throwing the knife, could be very hazardous! In fact, the last of the BUCKMASTER knives came with small flyers saying that using the knife as a grappling hook would void the warranty. A better use of these hooks are as anchor pins where knife can be wedged in some rocks or the crotch of a tree and used with a securing line off the lanyard loop attached to the hollow handle cap/pommel.
Maybe Richard Neyman, rich XDguys rich XDguys author and authority on the Buckmaster will comment...or someone with first hand knowledge.

Buck 250 Saunter - 2022 Legacy Collection arrived earlier this week. I may have gotten a little carried away with the lanyard for this knife. A simpler lanyard might be better. Although, I do like this paracord with these scales. (I still owe some pictures of the 891 GCK that arrived last week.)

Was lamenting that I lost out on the Buck 112LT sale couple of weeks back (was busy fishing a few days and never checked in). I did find a very nice condition Buck 112 CAT III VER 4 Ranger last week at a price that made me happy (much cheaper than a new one!). OH

I agree also. I’m trying my best to avoid buying any more with etching. Especially the ‘billboard’ type LE. Will see how that goes.
Yep. The newest limited edition knives are getting a little bit over the top. I don’t hate the etching if it’s just the buck year marking and steel, but the stamped blades to me seem a bit more custom like and classy.
