What's your newest Buck knife

Here is a nice one that was sitting on a website for a long time. The person said that after I bought it, a couple other people asked where it was. It is a Buck 401 Kalinga. It is the gold etched Al Buck version. I think it was made as a memorial of sorts to Al Buck, who passed in 1991. The gold etching shows a picture of Al Buck and his boat, "The Kalinga." The blade has a mirror finish so it's difficult to get a good picture and I'm too lazy to attempt it. The BCCI special projects spreadsheet says the handle is Red Birch. I've seen others say its "Buckarta." There were 1000 of these made, so it's not that rare.

The BCCI special projects spreadsheet says they went for $175. If you adjust for inflation, that makes the present value $392. That is not too far off to what the price is.

Mail call today! First fixed blade, and first elk handle. It's a beauty for sure - glad to have gotten one.

For those more familiar with elk - is there typically a pretty noticeable variance in thickness on the handles? I don't mind it and it feels good in the hand, but it's certainly a unique look.

Nice bark on that one.

Wow that is different.
But the bark looks so good, I can imagine that's why they used those pieces.
How does it feel in your hand?

With that swell, it probably feels pretty good if it fits your hand just right.

This pair of Buck 112 Slim Ranger knives fell out of our mailbox yesterday. Both lock up tight with absolutely no blade play - up, down, sideways, whatever. No need to sharpen either of these out of the box. They are very sharp - even grinds side to side. There's no question about the orange one being orange. It is ORANGE. It'll make a good carry knife on our property - easy to spot in a tool box, on the ground, wherever it happens to be.

Was lucky enough to fish this out of the bay recently. I didn’t know they existed until I stumbled across examples here on BF. I had no idea how vast the Buck universe is, and now I spend plenty of time exploring it.

I've got many Bucks, but never seen that one. Some special edition Trapper?

most of what Ive learned about Buck knives comes from BF posters. The post below from David Martin is probably what I read when I discovered the trapper. The only thing that I did notice is they’re Almost identical to some of the Camillus trappers I have. There’s #0993 on the blade but no model number. I’m assuming they probably made 2,000 because that Year is referred to on the blade. It does say limited edition on the round badge (or what it’s actually called) which I didn’t know until I put my glasses on right now to see. It is a really solid knife and im glad I found a nice example.

2nd post is the correct one. I’m still learning how to navigate on this forum.

Well I'll be in the VA on Friday to hopefully get my Atrial fibrillation fixed But David is in Post Falls and found this one for me. Koa 112's aren't unknown but are uncommon directly from Buck. I might have had one in the past but for sure have one now lolo! It's my first new Buck in months but I have the feeling David will find another one..I'm really hoping for a Magancut 112.imagejpeg_0(1).jpg

Not sure why I haven't posted in this thread before. Lot of beautiful knives in here. My newest:20230727_200945.jpg
Just got here today, and I'm very happy with it. Great job, Buck! Also, I wasn't expecting it to come in a shoe box 😄. I save all of my boxes, but where do I store that giant thing?

Your new 112 will have a special blade stamp as well. Nice knife

Must be my lucky day. Stopped into the big sporting goods store in town and they had the 2022 Legacy Collection Saunter in S35VN on sale for $99. They had it priced at $99 a few weeks ago and then the price went back up to $159. Had a $10 off coupon, so I took it home for $89.

This thing is a smooth operator. Great fit and finish. I really like the carbon handle on this one.
