Nice bark on that one.Mail call today! First fixed blade, and first elk handle. It's a beauty for sure - glad to have gotten one.
For those more familiar with elk - is there typically a pretty noticeable variance in thickness on the handles? I don't mind it and it feels good in the hand, but it's certainly a unique look.

I've got many Bucks, but never seen that one. Some special edition Trapper? Was lucky enough to fish this out of the bay recently. I didn’t know they existed until I stumbled across examples here on BF. I had no idea how vast the Buck universe is, and now I spend plenty of time exploring it.![]()
most of what Ive learned about Buck knives comes from BF posters. The post below from David Martin is probably what I read when I discovered the trapper. The only thing that I did notice is they’re Almost identical to some of the Camillus trappers I have. There’s #0993 on the blade but no model number. I’m assuming they probably made 2,000 because that Year is referred to on the blade. It does say limited edition on the round badge (or what it’s actually called) which I didn’t know until I put my glasses on right now to see. It is a really solid knife and im glad I found a nice example.
Two more Knife People created.
Two coworkers of mine will be buying knives thanks to my persistent influence. One, who is a hiker, wanted a good knife to carry in his pack. Based on his criteria I suggested the Buck Special, and he was so pleased with the picture I printed from the Web that I suspect he'll be buying one...www.bladeforums.com
2nd post is the correct one. I’m still learning how to navigate on this forum.Buck's Large Trapper
I hope you gents don't get tired of this model. But I just got a box with the model 334 in it which I had been searching after for years. (Thanks to a long time Buck collector, 300 ) Now I can post to show you what they look like should you come across one somewhere. The top knife is the model...www.bladeforums.com

Your new 112 will have a special blade stamp as well. Nice knifeWell I'll be in the VA on Friday to hopefully get my Atrial fibrillation fixed But David is in Post Falls and found this one for me. Koa 112's aren't unknown but are uncommon directly from Buck. I might have had one in the past but for sure have one now lolo! It's my first new Buck in months but I have the feeling David will find another one..I'm really hoping for a Magancut 112.View attachment 2265079
that's awesome wood there.....it's solid ebony, right? not dymondwood? doesn't matter though, still love it.New to me, great condition Buck 110 made in 1980/81.
Quite like the colour variation on the scales as well.

I believe this will be genuine ebony, as I understand it they (Buck) stopped using it in the 90s, then have restarted with ethically sourced ebony recently.that's awesome wood there.....it's solid ebony, right? not dymondwood? doesn't matter though, still love it.
