Which knife did you own that you most regret selling?

Well I was probably exaggerating a bit on my post, but I did really like the Zing, and the only reason I got rid of it was as a gift to my younger brother. So I wanted to pass on that nice little knife with the personal touch of the handles I made for it. On a side note, I did actually trade the first Zing I owned without the custom scales and regretted it. Luckily very soon after I found another at the Gun Show and was reunited. Carried it for a little while before gifting it away. May try to trade it from my Bro since I'm all sentimental about it now HAHA ;)

Microtech Socom Elite in 20-CV
I cry a little inside when I see it in my Photobuket library...

Definitely my Shirogorov 95 in s30v with Carbon Fiber inlays.
On the bright side, I've got the same knife coming in the mail, except in s90v.

I regret selling my ZT 0392. I'm not sure what I was thinking and it's not exactly easily replaceable.

I somewhat regret letting this Zing go. I gifted it to my younger brother who promptly misplaced it. I made the scales and I thought they turned out great. The zing was en awesome flipper and worked flawlessly. I believe he found it again, so I feel a lot better now. Also the fluted Zings are hard to find. I would probably get another if I saw one, and a Groove cause those are very cool too.

Not many I sold or traded I think about much. I wait until I'm sure that I am ready to let go. But there are a few.

Grayman Dua all Ti. Traded it before I could decide if I really wanted to keep it. Would trade for another given the opportunity. Great knife, even if the ergos are a tad odd.
CRKT Ripple Blue with Acuto+ steel. Super thin, nice blue handles, great flipper. Traded it toward a Sage 2 that I still have and still consider it worth it. But I did like that Ripple.
Kershaw Blue Red, I like red, so having an affordable knife in Red was nice. Traded it cause I didn't carry it much
BM 790 Subrosa sold to a friend. Loved the Subrosa, but didn't get carried cause of Sebenzas.

I love the Zing. Bought two a few years ago. One orange and one black. I let the black one go and regret it to this day. Took me a while to find a replacement.

Kershaw ruined the Zing when they stopped making it in the US.

BTW, Your custom scales are puss. Any more pictures?

It can happen. I sold a 'beloved' Microtech Scarab one year, because I loved my kids more, and needed the cash for Christmas presents. ($300 wasn't insignificant, at that point in my life :D) I do have a replacement, bought several years after I sold the first one.

I have finally gotten to the point that I don't get rid of any of my "keeper" knives. I keep enough "un-loved" knives around to trade/sell, if needed, but don't ever consider getting rid of anything I truly like, or even love.

But, if the SHTF, and I end up having to choose between my kids/wife and knives, you know what's going first.

I can honestly say that I took things back to the store after reconsidering my buying urge. No holds barred if the financial SHTF happens. But unless folks have a lot more valuable stuff than me (in mass at least), the money obtained would be a drop in the bucket in my life and the time and effort to sell would be significant. I can only speak for myself. When money is a problem it is usually a problem that has crept up on you and at that point it takes thousands to make any significant dent in the problem. Let's see.... how many knives would I have to sell to be able to pay my mortgage? +car payment +insurance or in other words a month's expenses ...quite a few. My knives aren't worth that much even at the prices I paid for them. Believe me, I understand how it feels when money is in short supply.

Money was a bit tight about 6 months ago and I didn't pay my electric bill. I just didn't believe they would turn it off for at least a month after paying my bill for 20+ years. I was wrong. It happened within 2 weeks and that was an education. My wife just about kicked my butt over that one. I paid the bill on the day that they turned the electric off and they re-connected it the same day. I probably could have sold something to pay that bill.

Generally speaking, I will only sell stuff I'm not attached to. Starting to feel that way about my gun collection. Just don't care as much any more. And yes, it would pay my house off if I sold everything.

Every one of them... From the big bear bowie..to the spanaird i lovesem all; just can not afford to keep them all but still looking for strider trusila mv and a strider spanaird (again) so 'if' you have one or a suggestion...much appreciated

I'v never sold any and never will. If anything I'll pass them down.

Take your pick(I regret all of these):

CRK Project 1, Shadow IV, Sable IV
Busse Natural Outlaw
Fehrman Last Chance

Harvey McBurnette folder, pink ivory scales, engraved bolsters, liners and back spring. Bought it from Harvey for $375, sold it to AG Russell for $900 several years later. Saw it a few years later for $1650. Biggest blunder ever.

I have a long list. Scott Cook Lochsa, Shane Sibert Diablo Pocket Rocket & Mini PR, all Ti. 3inch XM-18 that Rick made for ME, Todd Begg Gents Glimpse # 001......I had to sell them at that time. I would have done it, if I didn't HAVE too.

The first one I ever sold, a Cold Steel Mini AK47 in CTS XHP, it was after I realized that paying $75 for it vs the $30 I paid for my Aus-8 one was actually worth it, because XHP is so much better. I'll probably buy another someday.

Only other one I sort of regret selling, but that I won't buy another of, is am M4 PM2.

Being disabled (a very long time), I receive Medicare benefits. One year, they decided to change providers, and two of my doctors Were no longer covered. Received a bill for $900. This was January 2014. I had to sell my Strider SnG and Brian Tighe mini Tighe Rod.

I was planning to sell the Tighe Rod anyway.

But the Strider, it was a good knife. Only knife I've owned with S30v that didn't chip horrendously. I won't buy another, I'm long past the hard use fad.

Spyderco Native 5 S110V 2013 forum. Again, medical bills.

Chris Reeve large Sebenza 21 with bocote inlay. Wasn't even broken in. I used the money towards a vacation. I will probably buy another, wood inlay or ug with cabochon.

Spyderco Caly 3 C.f./zdp-189.

Talwar XL Serrated edge, now that the model is discontinued and prices are quickly rising up!
Two old Spanish navajas I had, from 1920 or 1930
My only nice auto, my best chopper (Kershaw camp 10), my Gerber MP600 Multitool, SOG PPP...too many to count!

That's easy, kirby lambert inferno.... sold it because I was intimidated by the recurve and he had switched to bearings and mine was washers.
I gave up a lot for that knife, and it didn't need bearings, that piece was smooth... and I have since conquered recurve sharpenings.
Everything I see one of his designs it makes me a little sad. Got it from an old guy on jerzee devil, I gave him six knives I believe, including a kershaw mini cyclone in zdp 189. He gave me a good deal I thought and tossed in a chive with a cool neck sheath. We continued to correspond until he passed away in 2010, I sold the knife shortly thereafter and regret it to this day.
