Who else has shifted from folders to fixed?

Not entirely, but fixed blade carry now overshadows my folder carry.

I carry at least one folder every day. They're ok, but fixed blades are my true passion. They just speak to me personally like no folder can.

Unless I'm out in the woods I usually carry a fixed blade with blade length of no more than 3-4". Usually scout carry, but sometimes strong side, reverse draw, edge out.

I've been carrying and using my Cold Steel Pro Guard so much that I'm getting tired of having to touch up the edge every other day and have begun the commission of a custom version in a tool steel. Latest draft:

The pyramid thingy is a diagram of the jimping (the three small lines on the spine)

The handle is going to be modified dramatically from this iteration to match the palm-fill ergos of the base model.

There is no reason for me not to carry a fixed scout carry right now, and I love it. When I start wearing less clothes in the summer I'll probably be carrying my ZT folder primarily. My favorite carry right now is fixed blade, and a I am keeping it in the rotation from now on. It just won't be as often in the summer.

I like fixed blades, but I carry folders because they're easier to just clip into a pocket and go. Fixed blades are less concealable.

I still own a few fixed blades anyway. Esee 3, Esse Junglas, Boker Ridgeback, Boker Gnome...

One day about two years ago after a show I had a lot of very nice blades left.

So on an impulse I just picked out a nice one for me. Now I've been carrying nothing but small fixed blades for almost three years. I'll probably never go back to folders. I'll post a couple of pics later.

I think I would move to somewhere where I didn't feel the need to carry large weapons to feel safe. I like knives and pistols, but I'm not willing to make either into a lifestyle. 4

I could see carrying a flat 2" neck knife (if it were legal in Seattle) instead of 3.5" folder. I can't see carrying a big knife or anything larger than a mousegun.
