Who has medfords?

You didn't miss much - very repetitive. If you heard the first few minutes, you heard it all.

Frankly, if I want to hear more MKT hate, I'll just start the "I love my Medford knife" thread. :D

Where's the perfect knife that TheApostleP designed, manufactured, marketed & is selling? I'd like to get one of those.

I actually enjoy watching TheApostleP's channel, and although Medfords (the Colonial and Praetorian in particular) are really growing on me, I agree with a lot of his impressions on the 187RMP. The build of that knife in particular is rather "meh". The spine of the blade doesn't exactly line up with the frame when open (which is sloppy, in my opinion) and the early lockup can compromise the strength of the lock, if you use it to its intended application (which I assume is hard use).

That being said, although TheApostleP doesn't provide a disclaimer regarding his bias, it's very clear for us to navigate past his personal opinions regarding the knife and its maker.

All my rambling aside, my next knife will be Medford. For whatever purpose they serve, Medford's quirks and stubborn originality are really starting to appeal to me.

All this damn Medford talk has me wanting another praetorian! I need to stay out of this thread!!

Good move. I think you'll be very happy with either one. Having said that, I sorry, but I'm not following; I can appreciate your (or the apostle's) impressions on the 187, but have you had the opportunity to actually handle one? Thing is you can't always go by some arbitrary review without handling one yourself. What do you mean when you say the "the spine of the blade doesn't match up exactly with the frame,"? I happen to be looking at mine right now and have no idea what you mean by that?

No blade play whatsoever.

Not trying to be argumentative (though I guess I am, lol) just not sure what you're getting at?

"Frame" might have not been the best word to use. See how the spine sorta dips down before reaching the handle scales? It probably doesn't impact the function or integrity of the knife, but that is all my eyes key in on. Hopefully the attachment comes through.

There's a GORGEOUS bronze handle, vulcan (pink rose color) blade, Praetorian T on sale over on Production Folders forum right now. Droooool

I couldn't see your attachment, but I took a pic of mine. I see the dip your talking about, but honestly it's so subtle you don't see or feel it. No negative impact at all in my experience.

Been liking mine so far. It's either the 187F or CQC7 in the pocket.

We just got our first Arktika in stock along with more Praetorians.
I didn't think it could get any better than the praetorian series, but boy was I wrong.
This knife is as tough as it gets and has a great feel to it with its grip points.

Just landed a Medford 187F (OD Green w/ Gray PVD Blade). All around solid knife and very comfortable in hand. Lockup is around 20%, but SUPER solid, and there absolutely 0 play. I have a 187DP and Praetorian G en-route as well. I am quite impressed by these knives.

I cant say enough just how much I like my Medford. I carry it all day every day.
Solid as a rock lock up with no blade play or lock stick..

Just so happens I'm carrying my Viper today.
I was pleasantly surprised by the refinement of the edge when I got it, and also it's slicing ability despite its relative girth.
I enjoy using it.

Agreed! My 187F and 187DP arrived with high-polished, refined edges.

Been carrying my DP G everyday for the past X months and it has even surprised me as to how versatile this knife really is...
I have always been a fan of the design, but like with most knives, that doesn't necessarily equate into a good long term user experience, and eventually I find something I am not happy with.
Not so with the Praetorian.

It takes a while to get used to, but once you understand how to hold it for whatever task you're doing, it delivers the best ergonomics I have felt.
The blade looks like it's only good at one thing; chopping down a house, and yes, it excels at anything that I would consider hard use, but surprisingly, it is very versatile and has no issues with being a true EDC blade that can easily get through the cardboard stacked up in your garage or open up mail.

I have put this knife through everything, and beyond the fact that it has excelled, perhaps the greatest thing about it, is how confidence inspiring it is to use. It will do it whatever you need, and never does it feel like you've pushed it too hard.

I know it's a few posts ago but that talk about the rmp's spine not lining up with the the blade is true but not that bad. A little sloppy? What? But it's not as bad as the (hang on let the hate engine spool up) the UMNUMZAAN. i don't own an rmp but have seen the pictures. I had an umnumzaan and the spine of the blade is higher then the handle. Never heard anybody complain about that. It's off by more then the rmp from what I can see. But let's dare not complain about crk in case I get called a witch and get burned at the stake. Love crk and Medfords btw. Good day all.

More pics! :)

I have been on the fence about Medfords after watching the evolution of his designs over the past year or 2. His shop and work ethic are both amazing. YouTube videos can leave a false perception about the maker, but when you get to see the shop tours he does, you get a sense that he really cares about his product and especially his employees. Still not sure they are worth the premium price that the knives sell for, but in this market for Overbuilt Folders, he seems to have made quite a name for himself.

There's a Micro Praetorian that I have my eyes on from a well-respected seller, and while cash is tight, I may end up getting it to really see what the hype is about. It's one of those folders that is so ugly that you really have to warm up to it (just based on aesthetics alone), but it just screams function, even if it's not built to slice paper thin tomato slices. I have plenty of other knives for that. The last thing I have to get over is the proprietary hardwear, but the knives are built with such tight tolerance that I doubt anything other than the occasional cleaning should keep it going for years without having to take the knife apart. My slipjoints are impossible to disassemble, but that doesn't keep me from buying them up any chance I get.
