Who has medfords?

I know it's a few posts ago but that talk about the rmp's spine not lining up with the the blade is true but not that bad. A little sloppy? What? But it's not as bad as the (hang on let the hate engine spool up) the UMNUMZAAN. i don't own an rmp but have seen the pictures. I had an umnumzaan and the spine of the blade is higher then the handle. Never heard anybody complain about that. It's off by more then the rmp from what I can see. But let's dare not complain about crk in case I get called a witch and get burned at the stake. Love crk and Medfords btw. Good day all.

It's not due to the build quality, it's part of the design (like the Umnumzaan). Believe it or not, the RMP actually grew on me and I have one en route. It will be my 4th Medford.

Love this knife.

This Arktika has make quite an impact on everyone I've shown it to in person, especially when I point out some of it's unusual features and the super tight tolerances it exhibits. I'm glad I found a raw one (tumbled frame and blade, no coating or anodizing). I think that is in character with it, leaving it's design to stand on it's own.

Yes it did get dissed. I got a tumbled viper best flipper I've ever owned. Not sure I want to use it. My tff1 is my daily.

Medford Custom Arktika comming my way in about two weeks, Ti upgrade hardware, S35VN blade, full PVD coating with the Medford M logo put on the blade. I am very excited to say the least.

Extremely excited to see it too - PICS THE DAY IT ARRIVES!! I love the Arktika, want to see more of them in the wild.

I read all the criticism of the Medfords & I even agree with some of it. None of that changes the fact that every time I pull out one of my 4 Praetorians (one Rainbow ANO TI, one Blue all TI Micro, one all blacked out Carbon Fiber Stealth and one brown with flamed TI lock side) it brings a smile to my face. The precision fit of the blade/scales etc. is absolutely phenomenal.

None of them have a trace of blade play or rock lock, yet they are smooth as butter after a rather long break-in period. I know Medford says you should never disassemble any of their knives, I have taken every one of mine apart & very slightly lubed the brass washers with a dot of Extreme Fluoro grease & then adjusted the pivot to my liking (with a drop of blue Loctite to keep it where I like it)

Are they my best slicers?? Of course not, but they always cut whatever I need to with no problem.

I carry a rainbow Anodized TI as my EDC. It is definitely a beast,

but I've always been a sucker for the bigger folders (I have 3 Emerson CQC-11s, a Nathawut pimped Patriot & the wood scaled Patriot among other things).

You guys can make fun of my "sharpened brick" that I carry everyday LOL, but I'll use it for years & then leave it to my son (it's certainly not going to wear out)

More pics! :)
The last thing I have to get over is the proprietary hardwear, but the knives are built with such tight tolerance that I doubt anything other than the occasional cleaning should keep it going for years without having to take the knife apart. .

Medfords are simple to take apart. All you need is a spanner wrench or a set of snap-ring pliers to loosen the pivot.

The scales are held on with T10 torx drive screws (you need the torx drive socket with a hole in the middle).

I have taken all my Medfords apart, lubed/adjusted the pivot to my taste etc. They are really not much harder to disassemble than my Emersons.

(I've heard) all you need is 2 wooden golf tees held side by side, make a perfect non scratch tool to remove/tighten the pivot screw. I'm just sayin.

I haven't tried that, but I doubt it would work. I holes you are spanning are tiny & they are screwed in really tight (and also loctited)

Grainger sells a spanner for $20 that works perfectly:

I have a set of Snap-On brand snap-ring pliers that also work fine if you're careful.

^^^ have any pics of them disassembled? I am curious to see it apart.

Can't wait for mine to get here!!!

I see a Medford in my future. Partly because of the hype/hate, mostly because I just want one example of a "OVERBUILT" folder with a blade that's to thick and ridiculously early lock up. It's a fun sharpened folding crowbar.
