Who plans on BUYING the BF survival knife?

I have an idea/suggestion; One way to keep the price down is to make it shaker like or the option of a blank tang or completed blank and let us finish it ourselves. Your makers could do the design that is agreed upon, make the blank, heat treat it, profile it or not, then maybe just supply any hardware. This way everyone truly has a custom knife that we all worked on that fits our style/wants/needs, but it's just a thought/idea...

Finally, somebody agrees with me!

I second that.

I've been wanting to get another blade from Jantz supply (or a similar source) and fit it out to use when I hit the Sierras this fall... If we could have something ready to ship by then I'll definitely be in assuming a bare blade isn't obscenely expensive. O1 is fine for me!

Just talked to Nick (NWA) and Ken w/ Ironwolf forge. Both these guys are willing to come up with a sketch or a knife within the next few weeks for us to look at.

Nick is making a knife for a member here that sounds really interesting. Let's give them some time (as they both have full time jobs) to put something together and we will go from there.

forgot to add..... both are willing to come up with a blade only option so each owner can put their own handles, pins, ect on it........

Sounds good! I didn't wanna bug Nick too much right now because he's working on a design for me :D Should be done in a week or two. But I'm still looking forward to makers input in the forum knives. Thanks tarmix!

Shhhhhh! I think the design he is making for you is the one I talked to him about;)

hey, could we do a poll on how many want to buy a handle only, vs how many want to buy it completed?

I personally want the knife to look good, and that means keeping my crappy workmanship out of the loop. Just bein honest. I'd end up having to have someone cad/cam a set of titanium.

It seems several people want a finished knife, which is fine, I'm sure you'll do a poll and find what the majority want but I have been thinking, a shaker type handle with the option of covering it with scales/micarta or whatever would be a sweet thing. I don't know if it is cost effective but I'm sure your makers would know. A light, practical survival knife (lighter without slats/handles but still funtional but able to accomidate them if wanted) sure would be a nice edc...

I'm right there with you. I'll start working over some my flea market specials I've before I work on something nice.

The option is nice if we can get it. Thanks for trying and everything else!!

Not sure but I would bet we could do both. If you want the knife finished, they would do it, just be prepared for the extra cost. Just trying to make it so for those that can't afford $150 + can still participate. We will get to pricing after we see the sample sketches/knives.
