Who still carries a Case Knife?

Back to my favorite 6318 carry knife. This picture taken right after cleaning with Ballistol - it will really clean up the white off-gassing residue from old Delrin. OH
Ps added a before picture to show how crudded up it had become.

How long had it been left before that complete colour change occured if you dont mind me asking ?
I didnt even know this was a thing ! You've done a marvelous job of the clean up

Thanks for the info on your single-bladed Case canoe.:thumbsup::cool: I'm a big fan of the canoe pattern, and have LOTS of standard 2-blade canoe and a few 3 or 4 blade canoes. But I've never managed to locate a 1-blade canoe. Maybe I should just take a Rough Ryder canoe (or 2) and eliminate the pen blade as you describe.

I have a Case mini copperhead with the navy blue jigged bone and red shield, and I think it's one of the best looking knives I own. Your mini trapper "dressed" that way is also extremely attractive.:cool::thumbsup: I wonder how many patterns Case made with blue bone and red shield? I think I've also seen a canoe and maybe a full-sized trapper and/or slimline trapper. I suppose they're discontinued by now.

What model is that? Very handsome knife :cool::thumbsup:, and I'd prefer that pattern with a blade on each end to a Peanut, I think!

You're welcome, glad you like it.
If you've got a little grinding wheel at home or at work, some files and sanding paper it could be done in a few minutes.
I agree, the canoe pattern is really nice and very comfortable in hand. It gets even nicer with single blade IMO.

Storm, Older photos, but I had misplaced that 6318 for a few months before I found it, maybe six months, and it had whitened up like you see. I used Ballistol (which I also use for cleaning similar white mold off of old leather). A gas station type red rag, soaked in Ballistol coupled with aggressive rubbing cleaned it right up. I now check my older Delrin handled knives and when you first see the white forming simply pocket carry the knife for a week and it cleans it right off. OH

Ps have that same knife with me this weekend, at my daughter and son-in-laws, running some new circuits for them on their new deck - that knife is a workaholic!

Here's a Half-Whittler that's been shown before but I like it a lot. It arrived under the name Burnt?Grilled Salmon or somesuch...but in reality a revolting pinkish white froth o_O A couple of visits to the Tea Sauna fixed that to my satisfaction.

5K Qs 5K Qs These are very similar to CASE Penknives, early models were closer still being single-spring. Now they're two spring and I at least think it's an improvement. Less skimpy, more to grip and no crinking needed either. Lot od scale choices including a very attractive deep Claret colour that's evaded me. Will have to round up my collection of them and put them on view.

Thanks for your remarks on the half-whittlers, Will. I look forward to seeing a photo show of yours.:thumbsup::cool:

Terrific trio of sowbellies! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I tend to favor multi blade pocket knives, but that simple sheepsfoot with wood covers and a shackle has a ton of appeal!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for some details on how you "deleted" the pen blade.:cool::thumbsup:

That's an impressive clean-up you did, Bruce!:cool::cool: I don't have a lot of experience with Delrin covers on knives, but I had NO idea they could discolor that badly! Thanks for the tips on how to fix the problem in both mild and severe examples.

I saw that cool knife in another thread, and I think you wrote that the tang stamp number is 12031SH. You said the original handle was walnut, a favorite wood of mine, and I didn't realize that Case had a separate number (1) for walnut compared to other wood (7). Does the "2" on the tang stamp mean that your knife was originally an electrician model with a screwdriver as second blade? Interesting knife that's teaching me new stuff!:thumbsup::cool:
