Who still carries a Case Knife?

I completely agree...
Case's Smooth Black Delrin (synthetic ebony) and their simple shield is timeless and elegant.:thumbsup:

This Case Barlow has the potential to be carried a lot. It is a great pattern and I love the looks. The blades are centered, there is only very minimal gaps, transitions and pins are all smooth, etc. It's only issue is some blade wobble on the main Clip blade. I peened the pin, which got rid of the wobble, but then it lost its 'snap'... had to push the blades closed. So I worked the blades like a maniac until the 'snap' came back which was awesome, but then the wobble returned as well. Frustrating, but I guess I can live with a little blade wobble. I still carry it because it's pretty awesome besides that one gripe.

About that blade wobble... the only Case knives I have with blade wobble are the three Barlows I own. I like the knives, but have a touch of OCD so the minor blade wobble bugs me more than it probably should. The Mini Copperlocks and Tribal Locks have none I can detect.

Anywhos - pic of the trio, I think I've posted this before.

I ended up with five of this newest Case Barlow run. Of the 5, only one exhibits any blade wobble - the Sawcut CV. And by wobble, I should say that I can make it wobble by trying. The blade isn't really loose, but placing some side-to-side pressure can cause movement to be felt as the tang moves a couple thou and touches liners. It's an almost unconscious ocd thing I do on all my traditional knives - if I were to hold the handle and blade with 2 fingers each, I doubt that I'd feel much, if any movement in the few knives that are "wobble-able" that I have.

But - those black synthetic Barlows with the stamped bolsters look great! Must resist going for a 6th!

Yeah, the worst of the three doesn't take much effort to exhibit the play. The other two take more effort.

The one you're referencing as black is actually a dark brown synthetic (42009 1/2 SS). Looks black in some photos. IMHO the brown looks much darker in person than most of the product shots I saw before purchase. I like the bolster etching on that one a lot.

If you're looking at new for a 6th, might want to get on it - pickens are getting slim out there.

Had a Buck 112 in my LFP for my heavy knife today, but my watch pocket knife was this Pearl handled Case Sleeveboard; really like this penknife. OH

That penknife is an absolute knockout, Bruce!:thumbsup::cool:

I received this single blade wharn CV mini trapper back from the magician @glennbad not too long ago. He graced it with some beautiful amber stag. The W&T is on par with the best that GEC has put out. Could not be happier with it. Need to get that patina going

Congrats on being the recipient of some remarkable glennbad magic!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I’m carrying my SBJ Chestnut Jigged Bone CV today. I’ve got it in the watch pocket and another knife in the pocket. Y’all have a great day! :)

This Sod Buster Jr is pretty much always in my pocket.
I can see why: fantastic form and function!:cool::thumbsup:

Dug this picture out earlier to show in another CASE thread, then I thought why not get the knife out too? The Slimline Trapper might not be the oldest of CASE's patterns and many prefer the Full Trapper but for me it's a useful picnic type knife that carries very light. Fine W&T on this one.

What a beauty, Will!:cool::cool: I much prefer the slimline version to a full-size trapper.

Carrying a Medium Jack in Synthetic Ebony
When I look up "jack knife' in the dictionary, I expect to see something very similar to that, John!:thumbsup::cool:

Today (again!) OH

Thanks for sharing the back story for this knife, Bruce; you're a good man!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

This week I happen to be carrying these two Case knives, a red bone canoe from 1975 and a red bone half congress with a 1940-64 tang stamp:
