who's on instagram?

I just use it to show my collection and see others. I have over 10,000 followers/get 1500-2000 likes. I'd be happy to showcase some of your stuff from time to time.

For those of you without a smatphone - I don't even get a signal here on the mountain... I bought a $19 phone and connected it to my wi-fi for instagram. Now I take the phone to my shop and post pics direct from there with about one minute of effort.

Just signed up. No content yet. Patience grasshopper.

No problem.

For what it is worth, you CAN using Instagram from your computer. I just don't know how many of you guys will want to download a program that let's you do it.

I personally, switch between the two. Sometimes it is just easier for me to post from my computer. (My phone camera suuuucks.) Most of the time, I take a picture with my camera, port it the computer, then transfer from my computer to my phone. A lot of work, but you have no idea how terrible my camera on my phone is.

I like Gramblr. Their name is their website, if you want to check them out. It is free to use their program and was basically the first/most known to allow you to upload from your computer to instagram.

Others;

BlueStacks
DropBox

I just thought you guys might want to know, even if you don't want to do it. Again with all of these you have to download the program from their respected websites. Just search them and pick which one fits you the best.

It is also worth noting that there are schedulers that will actually let you set up your posts for a month. Since I don't have the internet at my shop, I tend to go 'dark' for days at a time. These help me stay active without having to babysit all my social media platforms. The drawback to the instagram scheduler is that you have to pay a few bucks for that, but if you have internet 24/7 then you don't need it. If that does sound handy to you, then you can google 'instagram scheduler' and you will find it a few different types.

ScheduGram is the one I like.

It is the only app that will actually post the images for you. Just food for thought. :)

Thanks Logan, that was timely.

I just opened an Instagram account and there's no way to post photos from this computer.

Maybe can figure it out...

When I saw you on there, I was like whhhaatt. He broke down and got a smart phone?? :D

To me gramblr is easiest. If you need help though, you know where I am!

I'm following you Don!!!! :thumbup:

LOL! :p

@DonHansonKnives

I bought a $1.40 app called 'Wifi File Transfer Pro' for my Android.

When I click it on my phone, I can then click a bookmark on my computer, and the entire phone's folder structure comes up on my Mac.

You can select 'photos' and then find my Gallery albums and it's easy to upload to them through the interface.

Then I go back in and add them individually to IG from my phone.

I'm still sorting out the value of #hashtags and which ones ought to be used. It depends on who/what you want to include, and who might be searching on those hashtags.

@nighthaxan

Luckily my tablet does IG, so I still don't need to fully get with the times just yet. :p

@DallasSTB of course. And I've been stalking....er....following most of you for a while now ;)

Started on IG about a year and a half ago. It's been good fun and keeps you motivated. Working alone in the shed you can get a bit cut off sometimes. I'm watching people work all the time and it makes me do the same. Met some great new collectors and makers i wouldn't have had contact with otherwise. I have chats with people all over the world all the time. Learning teaching planning talking whatever. I'm also recording my work like never before. It's well worth the time.
Don get a smart phone mate. The cameras are fantastic to use.

@mcintyreknives See you there
