Who's selling Custom Balisongs?

I suppose you are not telling this because you don't want to turn this thread in a fight, do you?
But you are making us curious like this... :)
I bet $50 that the one that isn't telling the whole truth ISN'T Chris.

How was this knife anyway? Anyone got specs?

Bustard, this knife Kiem had planned was a modified schimitar, but the blade grind Kiem drew up couldnt of possibly been ground.

For now we (balisong forum) can't hear any side of there story, as Chris doesnt have access to the forum as he doesnt own a computer, and that Kiem is currently in Canada (view his website, and a thread in the Canadian connection to conquer with me). I'd rather hear directly from both parties instead of in-direct reports from people chatting with them.

Kinda seem's usless now that Kiem started up this thread insearch of a custom when he sold it off so quickly?

Nice pick up on the Dobruski Doug, Mr. Wang almost won. ;) -~$1~+:p

Phew, an interesting thread no doubt, although I personally could have done without the name-calling...
Actually, I think some of this discussion comes from poor choice of words (I admit I've only read this thread, so there might be more to it than this, someone mentioned talks in a private chatroom + other threads on the subject).
Kiem's words: "the deal gone sour" could certainly be interpreted in more than one way. Personally I just read it like "the deal didn't go through", I didn't automatically think any lesser of Chris as a knife-maker/dealer, nor Kiem as a buyer.
However, I can understand that others saw this way of putting it as an accusation againt Chris, in which case one would have to be much more specific about what happened. An accusation like that could hurt a knife-maker a lot, because many of his costumers read this forum. Therefore all the facts should be presented so that people would be able to judge by themselves. Also, the other party should have the opportunity to participate in such a discussion.
I guess my point is that writing on a forum you should choose your words carefully in order not to be misunderstood. Also, remember to respect others (also those, who do not share your opinions). Name-calling only degrades the value of your posts and removes focus from your point. I'm not talking about someone in particular here (although I personally think a few of the people contributing to this thread should pay attention here).

P.S. My hat goes off to Examonlyf who managed to keep his posts tidy, respectful and to the point even though he was attacked (no one likes a bali up his *ss :D )

Edited for spelling

I can't believe this is happening... The knife has been sold to 2 parties and is allegedly on it's way to the other party. I too would very much like to hear from Kiem on this issue... Christ, at least send me a follow up email on the auction in question...

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not going to be happy until I either get my friggin overpriced Dobruski or a really good excuse out of the seller.

I have dealt with Kiem briefly in the past and considered him a very nice person. After reading through this thread, I was shocked and confused in Kiems outbursts and childish behavior toward fellow forumites, hell, I even had second thoughts about bidding on his item, but we all say things sometimes, well, you know where I am going.

Wheres my knife Kiem???

IS THIS GBU MATERIAL???"

Isn't it obvious? This knife is cursed and will never make any owner happy. Why else would it be changing owners so fast and causing such an argument?

Sorry. Two different bali's involved. As for the quick ownership changes, Kiem is the only one selling his Dobruski. The bali Chris made for Kiem is still with the original happy owner.

You'll have to settle for the excuse. I have the bali in hand because Felix was out of town when Kiem sent it.

Unless he has a darn good excuse (can't see one coming), it is.

How can this happen? Did he post the knife on 2 different auctions or was one deal closed in private while the auction was going on at the same time?

I too want that answer. next time I will follow my instincts :(  :barf:

I think it was sold from a forum buy and sell, then posted on BA for auction later for me to bite on.

OK, now I am really pissed off! This is the last stupid kid crap I should have to deal with here. Sorry Kiem, you should have taken my offer earlier in this thread...

...and purchased a shovel from me. Anyone else need shovels??? It's getting mighty thick around here Kiem. Help me out here. I want an explanation... or even better my knife.

I have only done one deal with Kiem, and it went smooth. oh, here it is here...

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=217287

It was a new jaguar, I charged him $5 shipped. $4.50 was shipping... How could it not go smooth. I usually call that kind of stuff a fellow forumite bro deal!

 help me out here Kiem...

I don’t know how long the kid has been MIA, but Canada is not exactly a Kandahar (is it?)…they have to have Internet Cafés…I found them in every little town in Mexico.

I also have to assume Kiem is not entirely naïve about what he’s doing here.
He obviously made a deal with Felix and shipped it off…and then Doug won the auction which Kiem is obligated to deliver on.
The knife has indeed been sold twice. Now, I’m not a lawyer, but fraud comes to mind.

BTW, Doug, if you ever do get this knife (court settlement?)…can you send it to me ‘cause I want to compare it to my Marlowe…I’ll cover the shipping…hell, I’ll cover overnight shipping! :p

Yup. This is not an easy issue to resolve. The BA Auction is a legitimate contract for sale of the item. And the winning bidder has legal claim to the bali. But, for the sake of fairness, I wouldn't blame Doug for not following through with his end of the bargain. But that's entirely Doug's call.

Braundc,

Did you send the payment to Kiem yet ? If you haven't, I dont think it's fraud yet. Breach of contract ? I think so.

Yup CB56 is mine,..and yes i got it from Larry at blade art. It's almost identical to the one i passed on at blade show.I belive Lunnbra took that peice.

Actually, it was me who took it. A bit overpriced :( but I couldn't wait for a year :D

Breach of contract? Definitely. Fraud? Absolutely. If he doesn't have a knife for sale, entering into a contract with that knowledge is fraud. Worse yet, since the two parties are in different States, according to UCC Codes, this actually qualifies as Mail Fraud.

It's 2 years now. And could be longer by the time your order is processed. So, it's not really overpriced if the money you paid above the actual sale price cuts two years of wait time off you getting the bali. You're paying for the savings in time. Which I think is more than fair.

If the seller would send me a total for shipping,

AND A SHIPPING ADDRESS...

OR... A PAYPAL ACCOUNT NAME???

I could get this underway. Hell, even a response saying I just took you for a ride would be nice, then I would at least know whats up straight from him...

Exactly my thoughts!

Thanks Kiem. Moderators: do you have any comment on this one??? Study this entire thread and leave us a comment please.

2 years ???????? I'm glad, I bought it.

What could we do as a buyer about mail fraud ? Will contacting the Police help ?

Depending on the situation. It could be BATF, US Treasury, or the FBI. Since the transaction is Inter-State it's now a violation of Federal rules. So your local PD isn't going to be much help.

Doug: I can't think of anying positive to say, so I'll just keep quiet.....

If you want to go Mail Fraud, then it falls on the Postal Inspectors Department.

Right now, I think I'm hearing a lot of emotion and a lot of shouting here. Things are getting way to hot. There's a lot of opinion and emotion, but not a lot of facts.

So, I'm going to try something new. I'm going to close this thread for the day and we can start again tomorrow when things have calmed down and people can check their facts. This is an experiment. We'll see how it works.
