;) Where is the banning I was promised? :D

Seriously now, this whole thread has become a joke now, people who ought to know better are lining up to show how little class is left in this thread.

Who cares? Its like a gladitorial contest now, only most of the contestants are unable to remove uric acid via liquid downwind it seems...

Hey Mick, I like your knives BTW, heck I own an TAC AR. Does not mean I agree with you on everything you say, but I like and use your knives, nuff said!

First of all, the constant use of the word "retarded" is an insult to those of us who have disabilities that restrict our abilities. Or those of us who have children, relatives, friends etc who have learning disabilities. The use of that phrase is not conducive to conversations that should be civilized in nature, and tends to reflect badly on the person making the offensive remark.

no, THAT"S RE TODD DID.

i have dyslexia, and a moderately bad stutter. i got called retarded, as well as many other less pleasant names growing up.

all i have to say is, grow some thicker skin there dude. if other peoples opinion, and what they call you, have that much affect on your life, and your self-worth, you need some serious mental counseling. being called retarded is likely the least of your worries.

Simply not true. There is a world of difference between being retarded, acting retarded, and doing something retarded.

Mick is not making light of retarded people and he never will. That is a fact. He is simply saying what was done in the of testing was retarded.

Now, back to the issue, warranties and the testing of knives. I tested my Strider a few years ago by cutting the rear tire off a MC. I was very happy with it's performance:D

Then I dropped A Strider on my toe and it cut cleanly to the bone. Passed the flesh test also:eek:

I do not cut concrete with a knife, ever so my testing is complete.

Oh Mick he is a hardcore guy,
And he builds a hardcore knife.
And Jerry's blades are suited
To post-apocalyptic life.
And Chris makes the Shebenza,
Claimed a folder without peer.
And Spydie knives have Spydie holes,
And isn't that just dear.

Oh isn't that just dear, me lads.
Oh isn't that just dear.
That all these knives have such good fans,
Oh isn't that just dear.

But way up north in Canada
A guy is breaking knives.
And the way the fans react you'd think
He's threatening their lives.

He's threatening their lives, me lads.
He's threatening their lives.
By breaking knives in Canada
He's threatening ther lives.

But have no fear fanatics
For a great blade strong to slay.
The makers make, the buyers buy.
We'll all have toys for play.

Oh we'll all have toys for play, me lads.
We'll all have toys for play.
'Spite broken knives in Canada,
We'll all have toys for play.

Well I appologise for thinking it was you. Someone did though! :D

Sorry Bigmike.

No prob.

Although Food Stamp's little boyfriends sem to have a problem with leaving negative feedback and not signing their names.

Look its none of my business if you are cruising for a ban, but honestly if you keep using that language the Mods will have to ban you or look incredibly foolish. Is it really worth it? Why not edit your posts, appologise and join this forum as a valued, contributing member.

Think of it this way, no one would expect that, so prove them wrong! I am all for giving people the benifit of the doubt and you seem polite with your dealings with me, so how about it? :D

Well, I guess I hit a nerve with the wannabe mall ninja/specop/LEO/mammas boys who wack off to the latest Richard "Dick" Marcinko novel while playing with their Airsoft M16s (you'll shoot your eye out, Ralphie).

I agree with DaveH on this: at least Cliff tests the knife instead of keeping it in a padded case, locked in a safe. Cliff HAS THE GUTS to push the knife to its breaking point and not rely on some fancy pictures and creative ad writing to sell its supposed strength in hard use situations (covert deamination was copyrighted by Dork Ops first). I doubt that a majority of the "hardcore" users actually USE their knives except to open Cheeto bags (which constrast sharply with the tiger stripes on the blade) or cut Irish pennants off their Spiderman undies.

Keep up the good work, Cliff.

Soooo, you condone such slurs and uncivil referrals. It's no wonder that Mr. Strider refers to this thread as he does with insufferable attitudes prevailing.

I am sorry to have kept any sembalance of company with the likes of you, and with that, I believe I'll discontinue any conversation with you.

Good Evening sir.

Sorry that my first post is in response to this, but I find k_randomfactor's remarks to be cruel and uncalled for. I expect a little more out of a *** (can't name the other place) "Citizen". Terrible conduct, Chris! I used to really enjoy your posts at the "other place", too. :(

As a long time lurker on BladeForums, I have grown quite quite fond of Cliff Stamp's reviews and testing. I am glad somebody (Cliff) is acting as a knife consumer/knife user's advocate. I've had, at one point or another, almost every "hard use" knife available, customs and otherwise, and have learned a great deal from these forums. Being able to witness firsthand the honor and integrity of Knifemakers here has definitely shaped my buying choices. I'd just like to thank BladeForums, all of the extremely knowledgeable forumites here, and Cliff Stamp for all of the valuable information they provide.

whose warranties cover anything and everything that is unintentional? you break it in hard, abusive use and they replace it. I'm not talking about intentionally destroying a knife just to do it.

This was the ORIGINAL question, and I stand behind my statement that Strider has THE BEST warranty in the business ( excluding Ginsu of course! ;) )

I apologize for whatever small part I may have had in stirring this topic up in the early stages, but then again, I guess that's what these forums are for right? Expressing one's opinions?

Having been away for some time I have just finished reading the last 16 pages of this thread and I have been amused, entertained, apalled, and amused some more by the various posts, and sorry I could not have been a more active participant. If memory serves me correctly, I might have had more than one Beer the eve of my original posts, so if I offended anyone I sincerely apologize.

I own over 1200 folding knives currently, and they range the gamut from cheapies received as a child, to High end production knives such as Strider and Chris Reeve. I don't particularly care for the heavily adorned Customs that do not lend themselves to daily carry and use, but that is just my preference.

Since my somewhat late discovery of Strider knives about one year ago, I have had the privilege of carrying and using what I consider the best FOR ME folding knife on the market. I totally and 100% believe in their warranty, and no statements that I have read here have made me feel otherwise.

Hats Off to all who have added to this thread. Like the old saying in Hollywood goes, " Even bad publicity is Good publicity..." :)

Most of this is insanely stupid; however, Bohica2u's post is insulting. I have spent over 10,000 flight hours in a L/E helicopter with my primary extraction tool being a Strider knife. Testing included cutting a UH1 apart. Strider Db's are currently issued to every aircrew member by my agency. I am also aware of several USAF CSAR units that also issue the DB. I have no beef with Busse, but I prefer Strider. Sorry, I guess I'll have to be happy as a mall ninja. Someday I can work up to being a sewer inspector.

I really love this thread. Where do you have the chance to talk to or with a half handful of knifemakers in one thread? We had Mick Strider, Sal Glesser, Jerry Busse.

So, thanks @Fool 4 blades to bring back the first question, here we go again:

There are many companies who decide in a case by case manner. But if the question goes for a general rule my information goes as far as Strider is not replacing everything.

Anektikos did recommend the badlandsforum and i joined in to have a look.

There is a link to a Strider FAQ, which is unofficial, but i guess it repeats what is true. Warranty: They say: If you break the knife we will be impressed.... and end with saying: They will replace but not free of charge in any case.

Is there anything wrong about this?

This is nothing about the knife itself but looking at this i think it is not unexceptionell more comparable to Spydercos or benchmades Warranty.

A case by case thing.

I mean, if you break a thinner knife than a strider blade but you can show, that at least it should withstand this, both other companies wont stand behind to replace the knife.

Mybe the better question would have been:

Whos warranty covers foolish behaviour?

Busse does or doesn´t he?
