I haven't read all the replies, and I'm not sure about your budget but look into Seamus Knives. He produces folding knives that meet your requirements. Titanium handles and components, and Stellite 6K blade material. He told me he wanted to produce an everyday carry that could cut yet could also be dropped in the ocean and not rust. The hardness is not high by typical standards, but there is something with carbides in the blade material that become finer and more uniformed with use. I believe sharpening is also easy. I don't think satellite 6K is technically considered steel because it lacks Iron content. Hope this helps.

VG10 is what te old spydercos used to use, right? Yeah i had many rust on me. The police model in back pocket carry will do that while driving a car long distance.

Again, are you guys so used to pampering a knife that you ened to say it should have been remeoved from teh back pocket whiled driving?-----again, that is not the point!

Alright. Unless you are spewing sweat from your rear end vg10 is not going to rust on you by just sitting in your pocket. You obviously think otherwise though which is just fine by me.

I don't pamper my knives at all. I use them as they are intended and maintain them properly when needed. I've used a lot of different steels in knives and settled on the ones that work the best for me like M390, Elmax and CPM-S30v. None of those steels have rusted on me in my use. I guess since you apparently sweat saltwater the H1 is perfect for you and that's just fine.

There is a reason for that. That market is too small to be profitable. H-1 is expensive stuff. It presents some unique difficulties in production. One of the reasons Spyderco settled on the models they did in the Salt seried was because they could use existing tooling for much of them to reduce costs, and the Salts are still more expensive than the VG-10 models they were based on.

The salt does not cost that much more than their regular spydie counterparts. Nothing in the hundreds of dollar range difference if you compare steels they offer in their para II's series.

Which to me is completly stupid to buy a knife with a steel that is not going to do that much different than the current standard s30v. Why because of a different color handle/

Why not mak something rally different? It does not mean spyderco. But any of teh top production knifemakers could make a knife desnged to be marketed around ease of maitenance with screws that do not need tools, ease of sharpening and rust free conponents. Instead they try so hard to come up with the newest copy cat version colaboration. it is just boring man when they could do something different. I think it would sell to a market we have not yet seen.

Perhaps the reason that no manufacturer makes an expensive knife out of H1 and Titanium deals with assumptions that appreciators of high priced knives also use techniques that optimize performance of super steels? After all, most modern blade steels evolved based on the wants and needs of the market.

Any time I see someone touting a design or idea that they believe is the next big thing, I wonder why they spout it on the web? Man-up and produce it yourself. Put YOUR money where your mouth is and find out how good of an idea you have. Don't give these gems away for free!!

Call up Hinderer or Sal and tell them what you want and fund the venture...I'm sure someone will entertain your idea at your risk.

Because i don't want to become a hairdresser or limo driver. I hire one.

I already have a business where i create new things and produce them.

I'm not trying to be rude, it just makes absolutely no sense to me. I have never once taken apart a knife, but I take very good care of my blades... it's like saying you want a car that you never have to put oil in, because popping the hood is just too much effort, but at the same time you want an engine that is easy to rebuild...

#1 this IS a knife forum. So it makes sense.

#2 I wish cars would be easier to work on to. Since you brought that up. Why do you think they ar made so hard to change the oil on? So you would tak it to the manufaturers dealership.

So yeah you bring up a good poing. i don't like peices of $hit cars no more than i like to hav to buy an expensive pivot took just to unscrew the damn thing.

JEEZ ...i am glad i am the only one that thinks like me.

This makes zero sense...but I'm not surprised, because we both know what you are doing here.

I am suggesting you HIRE someone to make this idea a reality and not become that person.

You are not the only one.

There are some that are completely titanium, blade, hardware, everything.

Yeah but Ti blades will break. Not what i what i think would sell. However a high end hard use H1 knife that is user freindly would sell.
