Why Busse over less expensive knives?

Jody has advised me to treat it like a "$5. Whore"
Ok Now how do you treat a $5. whore?
That should be good for a dozen more replys.

He did say do whatever I want to it. Wonder how the Badger will take one .223 in the side.? Hummm! A final signature Herbieduke test. Has a good ring to it, don't you think?
jay,
do it (with a frangible,ballistic tip,etc please)
matter of fact do that one first.
no steel cores i don't know if i can sand that out.
i mean it.
"do what you want" means just that.
if you do something ridiculous and break the knife, i'll accept the loss.
you are not attempting to break it, you are attempting to NOT break it.
hell, i got a sh1t pot full o' bulemic badgers.
and i'd trust my life to them.

I have a picture of the badger that got shot. It was shot with a .40 caliber, at close range, if I'm remembering correctly. And the result: the black coating got scuffed a bit. (And it wasn't even INFI)

For comparison, I also have a picture of a Simonich Raven (in S30V, I think) that was shot (with a .45, I think). And the result: It shattered.

If someone wants to post the pics, I can email 'em.

Second pic removed. Two DIFFERENT incidents with too many factors to explain. The above, to the best of my knowledge, is what happened to an A2 steel BA that was struck with a .40 caliber while on a SWAT members belt/gear. Sheesh. I need to take up drinking

sure a military .223 caliber ss 109 AP penetrator will go right through it,,,but i dont think it will shatter it like it did the s30v blade,,,thats the problem with s30v,,,if you want it to hold an edge well,,it has to be heat treated to a high Rockwell hardness and that will make it very brittle.

KAAK

The Badger in the photo was A2, not INFI. IIRC Still, Busse's heat treat is something else.

Just checked my ammo supply, and have a box of SS109 green tip.

Other than that I have some S. African .223

Which do you vote for?

Why waist the time shooting at it? I don't know what that proves or dis-proves. Beat the heck out of it by using the knife the way a knife is normally used, the idea is to see how the knife performs compared to your other knives, not if it makes a good piece of armor.

I agree.

Also, if it is damaged when it is shot then Jerry will have to take time to either repair or replace it. Time that could be better spent making my knives ;):p

:D:D

I agree too! But if you have to shoot the knive, than we want to see pics of all your other knives being shot to. You must have 5 to 10 knives that you can provide pics of being shot with the same bullets! I mean its only fair! :)

Like I said...If my stupidity draws me to shoot a knife, I DO NOT expect Jerry to do anything with/to it ;) :p
