Why can't Spyderco make a knife that is as good as the Kershaw Leek and in...

I truly doubt there are fake leeks out there. it just not a popular enough model and it's too dang cheap to begin with. Plus it just doesn't have that Spyderco appeal and the market does tell it all!

There are. The only "Leek" I've had was a made in China copy that had no markings that was gifted to me. Did carry it for a little while until the screws started loosening up. Had a poor assist and didn't hold an edge that well either.

By no means was it an indicator of the quality of a genuine Leek or Kershaw.

I've had 2 Delicas pass through my hands and still have one. Great knife.

Price has no influence on iconic status. Ferrari is iconic of Italian sports cars and most of us will only dream of owning one.

Sure I have a question... when will Spyderco come up with a knife without that silly hole in it and instead have a flipper?

Here you go:D And before you post your next question, your Leek does have a small hole in the blade just like the Mantra 2. It's where they put the stud;)-

Hahahahahahahahahahah....no wait wait....I just have too

Hahahhahahahahhahahahahahahaha....

Is this guy for real?

Just to add...I have owned and carried both Kershaw (DLC Leek) and several Spydercos. (Endura, Manix, Harpy, Delica, Dodo, Caly 3.5). The Leek is a decent enough knife and carries well in a jean pocket, but, when I kit up, guess which one I have in uniform or on my amour, other than the Emerson?....it ain't the leek....

In this shot, a Spyderco Endura is inside the Admin pouch on my left side, it was used quite often, and served me well....and it cost me $65...

The Kershaw leek, broke when attempting to open one box of MRE's....

I might take a Leek if it was given to me. They're too fragile, too slick, and badly shaped.

I've only kept three folding knives that were not Spydercos, and two of those were given to me (one by a deceased friend). OTOH, I have a large drawer full of Spydercos...

Well, you need some skill in order to use a knife in a correct and safe way.

No...it really doesn't.

Sure...yeah...skill..... Opening a cardboard box...with a cutting tool...skill.

How's that?

Made out of metal?

Pointy at one end?

Has words on it?

Sidebar; why'd you get scared out of the GBU thread?

The pointy blade and the side scales looks similar but hey I don't hold it against Spyderco... I mean knife manufacturers do copy each other right?

True....but let me put it to you this way....that one knife you see in the above picture...survived heavy use on two deployments and work up cycles, and is still in use. The Endura has been in use for about 9 years now, no issues, again heavy use on deployment and at home.

The Kershaw, not a knock by the way, just fact, was carried in my DCU pocket and I used it several times in garrison, brought it with me on one training exercise, used it to open a heavy cardboard box, and the sensitive little assisted opening action ceased to function.

And by the way, the M4 takes skill, the MRAP, takes skill, driving the SURC or RCB takes skill....

A pocket knife....not so much.

Aaaah, I thought that you broke the blade.

Just contact Kershaw and they will send you three replacement pieces.

No one I buy from copies other makers; Spyderco, Emerson, Winkler, folks like that.

Some of them will license a feature or partner up with someone they respect.

No copies though. They keep their eyes on their own desk.

Yes they do have an excellent warranty service, but still, why the knock against an excellent cutlery company such as Spyderco?

I dislike the Leek. Don't like the shape, blade, or functionality. If Spyderco ever makes a similar knife I won't buy it.

guys, the OP is not having a discussion here...he sets out to trash on spyderco and no amounts of obvious arguments is gonna get to him, his mind was made up all along... He's a hellbent Troll straight out of lord of the rings.

The only similar contour I see is that there is a slight curve to the wharncliffe type blade. That, and the fact that they are flipper frame locks with metal handles. They might be around the same size too.

Spine to tip is different. Handle contours are completely different. Pocket clip is different. Flipper tab is different.

To be fair, it has been a few years since I've had my eyes checked.
