I do not think how I talk makes me enlightened. I think I am accepting of all cultures and ways of life. speech does not make one enlightened. But my acceptance and understanding of all people in all walks of life I feel makes me caring. I keep an open mind and try to understand people.

I grew up very poor in what many would consider ghettos. But I am not trash. My parents did the best they could at the time. The majority of my friends for a long time were black, but none of them are or were trash. Your statement was very disrespectful. The way one talks does not make that person trash. Sorry Jill, but police training videos disagree with you. Thier statistics on the subject state that if the resonably competent knife weilder is within 12 feet of you, you're going to get cut. And yes I carry guns to knife fights, but I don't expect to come away unscathed, just hopefully alive.

First off the majority of cops (Over 50%) can't shoot worth a damn. So evidence of a cop versus competent knife weilder is not evidence of a competent knife weilder Vs a competent gun weilder. Second... no one said you can expect to come out unhurt in such an encounter... just that almost all the time you'll come out victorious.

Unbreakable, I sure hope that all of your gun/knife fights are outdoors, so that your 10 to 20 yard wishful thinking comes true.

Even at 10 feet I'm confident that I can win a fight of gun vs knife if I'm the one with the gun. I might get cut... I might get a knife stuck right in my chest... but the other guy is going to have an entire magazine dumped in his chest and head. I win.

Jill, exactly. We carry, and hope we have time to get it in hand. I have a friend who had his ass handed to him in a theatre, for shushing a loud mouth tow truck driver. He has 20 plus years of martial arts training. Didn't get a chance to use it, before his ribs were broken and lung collapsed.

Morimotom is correct, it is 21 feet, which makes it even worse odds. Unless you have gun in hand, and are willing to shoot instantly, a knife fight is a dangerous place to be.

Where I live in Eastern Oregon, we never count on law enforcement to stop anything, help is not minutes away, but hours sometimes.

There's an old saying... when seconds can mean the difference between life and death the cops are only minutes away. LMAO.
