Why is there sometimes snobbery against Cold Steel knives? They are great!

I tried my hardest to stay out of this....
but...
If they started in AFRICA, why would it make sense to say they were only used against AFRICAn Americans?
They are a whip. Whips were made for horses and cows. Not people. Anything can be used as a weapon. Even hands, feet, and shoes. Not just Sjamboks.

Don't think anyone said anything about african americans . .

And the only company I've ever seen Cold Steel insult is Strider. Any ethical person would and should shun that scumbag.
I don't think there is a company out there Cold Steel hasn't insulted.

There is a huge, glaring difference between Cold Steel and our competitors in the knife industry and we want you to be aware of it. They are non-expert poser with no real world interest, experience, or ability with edged weapons. They rely on slick copy, gross exaggeration and the fulsome praise of there cohorts in the gun and knife magazines to separate you from your hard earned money. . . .

There may be other knife companies out there that stoop to this sort of low discourse but I sure haven't run across them.

I was looking through the CS stuff to see what might appeal to me and i noticed they make a Sjambok. Any company that makes a weapon thats only historical significance is in how many times it was used to beat black people to death..............
Really? Because it sure looks like it. Hey! It was even you that said it!

Lol not all black people are Americans. But I really doubt that Cold Steel made that thing so it could be used in race wars. Their ethics are pretty questionable, but not to that extent.

just a nit-pick: the strongest lock for a folder is not the CS triad, and it's not the BM axis. it's the latched balisong. an open balisong in the latched position is basically a fixed blade knife. :D

No, while a Bali is very very safe against the blade closing it is among the weekest due to the small pivot pins. Ex. The paradox while not a true balisong is safe and strong, as is a traditional Bali. However, the paradox can't hold a candle to the triAD. But all that said, a Bali will never close on your hand.

Yeah what DemkoKnives said
That just isn't always true. Sure with some high end Bali-songs are very strong but they still are limited by the size of there pins, stops, thickness of the blade and the strength of their handles. It is hard to imagine that many butterfly knives could withstand the 600 lbs that a Large Espada with Tri Ad did.

But I will take issue with the Paradox being as strong as a "Locked" bally. I think that extra latch does give a certain amount of extra strength as it ties the handles together into a unit that can't flex like the Paradox or Black Rock Hunter can. Also if the "safe side" pivot pin fails catastrophically a butterfly knife (or Paradox) can and will close on your fingers or hand.

Hey fatherhudson, I hope you don't own any machetes then, because whew do they have a history in Africa...

when will u ever use a knife to lift 600 lbs on a side point................................... I have a fire proof pen. WHY THE HELL WOULD I USE IT IN A FIRE. Just some things are not practical

Peace of mind, and it just shows the solid construction. 600 pounds is alot of force to ruin the handle too. It shows us more than just the lock

but saying 600lbs compared to 550lbs is worth an extra 75 bucks then its not really practical. I dont baton with the back of the knife. I use edge down, not on the spine. only time i see were that would happen. fail batoning.

Friends Don't let friends drink and baton

A bali is only as strong as the top handle pivot pin and blade stop pin. The latch does not matter. ( although my testing is limited). I am only referring to a blade in vise weight hang test. However, a Bali is equally as strong both directions. spine and edge pressure.
