Why no Kershaw Forum?

the features are not things i want or care to have. for an annual fee.these are natural questions that one would wonder when coming to a forum that asks for money for very common simple features. im not asking these things cus i want those features im just curious. having been posting on forums for a while and being in huge ones and very successful ones from the beginning this is all new to me. i noticed that there is a wolfpack mentality here with not to many individual thinkers. surprisingly some people have answered some of my inquiries without the usual ignorant redneck rage. btw this is the first time i ever heard someone mentioning the google bfc search. that is kind of funny. when you push people a bit is when you get results.
You only reply to the people that get angry because you are trolling. All of your questions were answered amicably a page ago. Your attitude is what upset certain members, not any kind of "wolfpack mentality".

Also, I am also a veteran of many forums, and many of them offer paying members ships that don't give you anything but a colored name and a bigger avatar.

All large forums compromise somewhere. Some use advertisement, some shill their own shwag incessantly, some do both. This one does neither, so it requires a nominal fee for PMs and searching, plus you get the bonus of unlimited selling of almost whatever you choose without any additional fees. It makes perfect sense, and is far from unreasonable or shady. But why am I bothering? You won't reply to this post.

I looked through your past posts, and you've been a troll from the beginning.
Some people don't take well to being pushed.
Welcome to my ignore list.

BTW, my actions are not based on anyone else's opinion or mentality. Blame the wolfpack all you want.

You are being ignored for your immature, confrontational, and downright obnoxious posts that serve as a perfect example of "trolling"

Do not irritate me.
Trust me on this one.

This topic has been done before. The world did not wait for you to come along before learning to whiiinne. We even have a special forum for it here.

What we do not have is much tolerance for insulting other members. "rednecks all over middle america" is ... not polite.

You have no access to PMs. Too bad. You do have access to visitor messages and email through the forums. What you get for free is worth the price.

so are condescending posts like 'ask your mommy for money.'

. What you get for free is worth the price.

Truer words were never spoken. No grounds to complain for something that is free. Just besides all the useful info I've gotten from these forums, I enjoy reading the commentary and the friendships that are made here. The mods do a great job as well. This is a great forum...if it wasn't we wouldn't all be here.

I kind of figured that being able to use Google to search for stuff online was pretty common knowledge…

Your doing a good job of ignoring the 1st rule of holes.

I don't usually put my 2 cents into threads like these. I visit this site to learn about and share my knowledge of knives. I try to avoid the drama that comes in waves from time to time. I can't remember the last time I have sold a knife on bladeforums. I do use the PM feature a lot. I don't know what other features of the platinum membership I use. I like this site though. A lot. It is the site I most visit when I am online. I was a gold member when Spark did the server upgrade. I upgraded to contribute a little more to what I feel is the most comprehensive knife forum on the internet.

I know that if I was not a paying member I would not complain about features that the site did or did not offer. Why? because it is free. ANY registered user can come on bladeforums and read. The search with google is much easier, much faster, and much more comprehensive than bladeforums' search feature.

What amazes me most is that people who don't support this site, or even contribute anything but negativity (StothE, IGotStabbed, mkf2294) whine about what they AREN'T getting for FREE. There are several longtime members who have contributed invaluable information about knives and have never paid a cent. They are as well respected as those people who contribute their knowlege and DO support the forums. The dogpack mentality only arises when a freeloader such as the above named complain that the FREE forums don't give them enough.

I also find it hard to believe that if StothE or IGotStabbed were face to face with Spark, or even on the phone with him, instead of hiding behind a keyboard and computer screen on an anonymous internet forum, they would not act as rudely as they are now.

motts, sorry your thread drifted off so negatively. The Kershaw forum closed on the request of Kershaw's representative.

And for the record StothE, I'm from Boston. Am I a redneck? ;)

you are very far from a redneck. do you have a ti-lite? that might change my opinion.

The education you can get here about knives and many other related things, for free is worth a lot more than what you get when you pay to become a basic, gold or platinum member. All you need to do is realize it and down the road you may want to help support the site for all you have learned from it, if not for the obvious stated reasons for a paid membership.

heres one for you too. loosen that frisbee on your head and maybe your axe wound wont bleed as much.

Didn't your mother ever teach you to respect your.... Never mind, obvious waste of time. You've spent 88 posts showing us that you don't know the meaning of the word.

I am going to guess this comment is going to come back around and kick you! Good luck.

FYI, just in case you care. An infraction for Sassing a Moderator is worth 40 points. Not something you wanna have.

Esav is a good man who works his butt off trying to keep this place in good order, he doesn’t deserve to have his job (un-paid and largely thankless btw) made harder by the likes of you.

Give me a break, don't go on and talk about what shouldn't be free and what should. Do you think this forum would be at this position today with thousands of members if it started out with this tiered membership system? Someone obviously needed help paying the bills and got greedy at the same time. Do you think Google would be at where they are if they had a muti-tiered system???? Youtube offers even more technical service, do you pay for that????

Remember: Sites like these depend on the users, not the other way around.

Sigh. Google is not a forum and has income stream from advertisements. Youtube, again, not a forum, and, again, advertisements. Further, these are businesses, corporate businesses, and not private sites operated by individuals for the benefit of a community. Perhaps you can see the distinction.

Greedy? You obviously know nothing about running a forum or the owner of this forum. Help paying the bills? Paid membership on this forum doesn't even cover the cost of running the forum and the rest comes out of the owner's pocket.

When you have no clue what you're talking about, it's best not to speak unless you're just trying to convince all that are reading of your ignorance.

I didn't talk about what shouldn't be free and what should. I said that someone who is getting a wealth of free information shouldn't be complaining about what they can't have. Beggars can't be choosers. If you can't search, use Google. It searches bladeforums better than bladeforums' own search engine.

Sites like these do depend on the users. There are several thousand registered, basic, gold, platinum, knifemaker, and dealer users that have no problem with the way things are now. There are thousands of registered users like yourself that appreciate the wealth of free information this site offers that don't complain or whine or make up conspiracy theories on why they can't search. They act like grownups and accept it. If you don't like how the site is run, don't visit it. It is easy to log off and not come back. But I don't think you will do that. :)

And re: this gem-
I like to finally voice my opinions on bladeforums.com. Notice how only some manufactures are listed, some large well known ones and some unknown ones. One would think the largest and most popular brands have their own forums section, but that is not the case. There is some commercial profiting shenanigans going on here between this forum and those companies. Also, notice if you don't pay the ridiculous $30 member fee, you can't even search not to say no PM. This is the only forum I belong to that does this sort of thing. I have been here for a bit and it seems in my short stay, this place has gone from "for the people" to almost commercial.

Where is the evidence of the "commercial profiting shenanigans" that you accuse Spark of in the above quote? Knife manufacturers have forums here because they have a representative to moderate the forum. That is the ONLY requirement for a knife company to have their own forum on bladeforums- they have to provide someone from their company to participate. A pretty good rule I would say.

You're new. It is always good form to read a lot and post little until you know what the rules of the playground are. YMMV

Pete
