Why Striders? (aka convince me to buy a sng strider)

Only Strider SLCC is looking cool for me. Maybe because it's similar to Fred Perrin knives.

I currently carry an SnG and have for about the last couple years. An Umnumzaan replaced it temporarily but now I'm back to the SnG.

For me the SnG is the perfect size, weight, and construction. I like the look of the knife but I can see how some might think it's a bit gaudy. If you like a Spyderco PM2 then I think you would like the SnG.

I was on the fence for a long time and finally pulled the trigger even through Striders are not my style. The loud "thuuunk" of the SNG locking into place is what rustles my jimmies. Its different in a good way. Simple solid with a beautiful aroma of WD-40. Its a knife experience. As far as Mick Strider, whatever your opinions are, at the end of the day you are buying a knife not a man.

I've had several Striders and I'd give them all great reviews. Awesome EDC knives. The guy does a ton of stuff for our military members but, alas, he's made some mistakes. Much like everyone else in the world. No one is perfect. A lot of us are petty and judgemental.

Great knives. Get an SnG.

I am fairly certain I've owned more Striders than any other knife....

Here's the main reasons I really like them:

Their HT regardless of the steel is top notch.
The ergonomics are as good as it gets for me in any grip.
They inspire confidence regardless of what you do with them.
The finger choil is perfection.

LTS, I'd recommend a quick search of Mick strider (aka: Mickey Ray Burger) before completely dismissing all of these "judgemental" people. I have absolutely zero skin in this game as I don't own a Strider knife, nor am I a ranger or a Somalia Vet, however there are a lot of things that bring Mr. Strider's character into question... more than some simple "mistakes" as you put it. I agree, he's not all bad and he makes what some consider one of the best tactical folders around but to simply say he messed up "much like everyone else in the world" is glossing over a few things IMHO. Now this isn't a knock against him or for him... couldn't care less. if you like his knives, buy his knives but to address the tons of posts implying years of lying and deception as a couple mistakes is more than a little vague. I don't know the whole story... nor do most I assume, but the hour or 2 I have taken to look up the accusations over the years has lead me to believe he hasn't been up front about a lot.

Never buy a knife unless you have vetted the owner of the company. Make sure you ask for a valid birth certificate, last 10 years tax returns, any service records etc.

Me, I could care less. I dig my Striders.

Amazing design and heat treat.. Short lock life and customer service have kept me away after my first few.
I love the design for all the reasons I love my ti lock.
I'm sure I will own another some day.

The Strider SnG is the perfect EDC knife for me. I have one in my pocket right now. It fits my hand perfectly, smooth as butter, tough as nails.

The warranty is amazing if you buy a strider and keep it stock they'll fix it for life .

Mick has a past he claimed to be something he wasn't . He's had judgments in courts forbidding him to make that claim anymore to sell knives . Mick also from my understanding does a lot for our military guys as far as donating knives etc. That's a personal choice you'll haft to make for yourself and doesn't effect the knife .

All things considered the SnG <correct way to always write SnG . Is a nice Edc . The blade is kind of thick and the blade is a little short but the egos are amazing . You have very precise control over a strider and they are tough.

I sold 4 striders in the last few months . Each one I thought had smooth amazing action and lockup.,and I'm used to strider BTW .

All 4 were great examples ,however all 4 I sold everyone the buyers ALL replied to me the knives had lock stick . Now I've owned maybe 10 strides overall and I'm used to them the 4 I sold seemed fine to me with no stick at all . Just goes to show how some people view them .

Hey man that smf smoothed out I think it might have had some lube or marker or pencil

After I got the spanner tool I took her apart cleaned and lube reassembled
No more stick plus totally centers when closed and lock up is at 50

I am a happy camper.and glad I got it .

Lol I'm up to 4 strider folders (Mabey soon to be 5) and 3 fixed blades ;)

It is hard to believe knowing all the evidence a person would "care less" about stolen valor, for monetary profit no less. At least you recognize the issue and are honest.

It had sharpie on it if I remember right . When it came to me from monkey edge the lock up was ridiculous . I had bought 3 striders at the same time and breaking in 3 well I had to cheat . Glad you like it though

No need to search Mick burger here it is in a nutshell . Dude claimed he was a Ranger . Made some other claims like he was on a black ops mission and got busted for stealing a car or something with a car IIRC.

Spark and or someone else got his records ,he was never a ranger .

Eventually Mick had to go to court and he can no longer sell knives with the claim he was a Ranger .

Now I've heard he does a lot for military folks that's why I bought another strider . It's your money ,I'm not going to pass judgement on another mans money who am I to do that .

I do think everyone had a right to know that about him and make up their minds before dropping 5 bills on a knife.

I guess my high horse is not as high as yours.....

I am fine with that.

I didn't care too much about the owner's background. I just cared that the SnG fit my hand.... and sadly it didn't so it got sold.

It was that corner at the rear handle that dug into my palm.

But it does seem to fit the majority of folks, so best thing you can do is try one - buy it used and lose a little if you don't like. Then if they do suit you, jump in with both feet!

I have owned many Striders, fixed blade and folders as well as the SLCCs. I always liked the Striders but when I found the Hinderers I made the switch and never went back to the Striders.

They are still great knives but it's just a matter of personal preference. Get one, try it out, I don't think you will regret it. And then you'll KNOW.
