Why Striders? (aka convince me to buy a sng strider)

I have a collection of folders that I really enjoy, and since getting both a Hinderer and a sebenza my pockets are happily full. And yet I still am eyeing an sng strider. Those who own one: what are they like? Do you end up carrying it for edc or is it more of a collection piece?

If you have the money, why not? You can always sell it if you don't like it.

Hey all.... Ended up buying a user off of forum. Looking forward to it arriving!

Congratulations! I think you’re really going to like it.

I have 3 SnG’s and 1 PT and none are for sale.

I like my SnG .. but I think I'm a SMF person (subject to change after the SnG gets more pocket time..

I think I should have got the SnG first because after using the smf for a little while , I got the SnG

basically I wanted the SnG to have the same thick blade but in a smaller package.

Long story short I might get 1 more sng but I KNOW I'm going to find at least 1 more smf in DGG and probably a CC

The SnG CC is a little slick I would like to try one in DGG

I want to get a DGG too. I currently have a Lego SnG, and I have had the CC's. I would love to get a DGG, and of course customs from Dwayne & Mick!!

same here..I've had a few CCs but didn't like them as much as my Legos. I would love to eventually own a DGG.

I had an SMF, loved the way it fit my hand. I didn't care for the thickness of the blade or the short blade for the size of the handle. The price that a new one is going for now is a little high for my liking but to each his own. I have a Sebenza that I would sooner carry. For the price of a Strider I would rather have a Les George or similar mid-tech. Or even a custom.

The SnG CC is the only modern folder I have kept for years. I (almost) traded for an XM-18 until I saw how thick the knife was. The SnG CC is beefy yet with the FFG is a capable slicer.

Our community should be happy with all the choices we have and the means to attain them. There are so many serious issues out there yet many feel the need to infinitely crucify someone who makes a damn good knife.
Don't want one, don't buy one. Trying to convince someone they shouldn't buy a Strider isn't going to save humanity. Go do something that really matters.

I haven't owned any folders yet but I intend to get an SMF somewhere down the line. I do own and use a DB, a DB-L and two EBLT SS. I carry my DB-L daily and love that thing. I use and carry it with absolutely no worry and often look for an excuse to use it.
If you're curious, get one and try it out. Even if you can't return it, should you choose to do so, resale will not be an issue.

Deleted my offending comment. Reference to Craytab's earlier link would have been wiser in GKD. My bad.

I own one an SNG, it's meh..., I defiantly prefer my XM-18. But that being said, I have a current generation Strider PT, that's a little knife I truly enjoy carrying, and always have it in my pocket.

When I received my first PT, I couldn't believe how small it was. It's a nice quality folder, I just felt the SNG was a more perfect size for my tastes. I've never owned a SMF...maybe someday.

Sisusari, I too am happy that you found a knife that you like. I hope you enjoy it for a long time. :)
