A peripheral benefit to someone collecting knives is that it stimulates the economy. Many knives have a tendency to hold their value too - which is cool.

I only own one watch.

The same sentiment extends to my views on knife "collecting" ... LOL
ughh why...

charlie, a lot of your posts make me very sad, for years ive had to sit here and watch you destroy perfectly fine gear

I didn't create a thread, but depending on what you consider expensive that's exactly how I went about it. I doubt very much that I'm that unusual or the only one who did the same.

Expensive is buying a $500 knife. I highly doubt there are many first-time knife buyers who are doing this. People can find an a specific example of this happening, I am sure. I am not saying it doesn't ever happen. But that is the rare exception, not the norm. It is highly unusual.

Many people I know think the prices paid for knives that are popular here on BF are out of wack with the real world. You see thread after thread "looking for a knife less than $200 or less than $100" and to most folks these are crazy expensive prices for a knife that you might carry and loose the next day. They don't care if it is the latest super steel, only that it cuts when they need to use it.

But that's not unusual for people with regards to any other hobby for any other given forum. Same goes for cars, watches, clothes, footwear, etc., etc, etc. It's those forums which attract the people who tend to be more passionate and more serious about those particular hobbies.

Maybe not the norm, but I doubt that it's that unusual. Personally I've just learned that for me it's less expensive acquiring what from the get go than to spend money on what I don't really want and then get what I really wanted later on as well.

This is the description I put in the video...

Use it or lose it. Don't be afraid of getting a scratch in the finish. If you can't, I got news for you... YOU DON'T OWN IT - IT OWNS YOU!

Well, I have used and abused this and a few just like it for over 15 years ad they STILL OWN ME!!!:D

Thanks guys. It is not retired yet. Who doesn't like a big chopper.

Just to show that I was not kidding about using it here is an older video of me having some fun with it or one like it. I have owned a few of these.

But I don't think they actually answered the question, "Why?", which was my point and which was the original question. I'll leave it there, Marcinek, because you have a way of pushing my buttons and I don't need that today.

Zieg

Well, I'm certainly sorry that no one expressed their opinions in a way that met your expectations, (I felt they expressed themselves quite clearly and succinctly) and am also sorry if you find my posts objectionable.

you've got a mercedes and a jeep, you're driving to the forest for a camping trip. which vehicle are you gonna take?
Totally different scenario.
And for the record, Mercedes makes a 6-wheel offroad vehicle. :D
I've cut tires, cans, sandpaper, and scraped off gaskets with my Sebenza.
Shoes? Buy some at the dollar store, and buy a $100 pair of Adiddas. Wear them each for a year, and see which holds up.

You know CM, I think you're a pretty good dude.
I respect you.
But this video damn-near made me scream.
But, I didn't pay for it. You did. More power to you. :D

Sarcastic apologies, and annoying other forum members. Say something useful to the thread topic for once, please....

Thankfully this forum has an ignore feature because of people like you.

What's wrong with Marci? All he did was tell the truth!

I don't mean to come off as a $#%^ (though I probably already do, being a 19 year old screw up in college haha)

But marcinek's posts just critique other without offering his own justification or ideas in a beneficial way. It is probably only a problem with me, but he reminds me of that narcissistic teacher that everyone hated in high school. Always critiquing, never helping. I've been around too many people like that to know that there is no salvation.

Apologies for the negative atmosphere I created, it is completely my fault for not acting properly.
