Winter kith?

That's a piss off. What irritates me is when I forget to stamp my makers mark.

How do you do your makers mark because that is one of the last things I do and I etch it in.

Yeah soon as I posted that I realized I forgot to drill them. [emoji53]

Ive got some good bits I think I can get it drilled.

If you have trouble with your drill bits here is something I did recently when I ran into the same thing. Take a kitchen towel and get it wet, throw it in the freezer for about 10 min so it's very cold but not frozen solid. Wrap the towel around your blade, then heat your drill spots up with a propane torch. Quickly drill them and you should be good, that should take the hardness out of the tang.

Well, we were encouraged to challenge ourselves, and I am certainly doing that. I got the handle assembled last night. This is my first kitchen knife, first stick tang, and first multi piece handle. I need to shape this, but I'm torn between octagonal and oval. The saya will also be a first for me.

You really pushed yourself and it shows.

Still waiting for eight pieces in AEB-L to come back from Paul Bos/Farner.

Here they are, except the very short one in the middle wasn't ready in time to go out with the rest:

Here below are three of those just before I sent them out to Bos. I rounded off the corners on the sheepsfoot, because I thought it looked better that way:

I think they will get back to me around 20 JAN. Don't know if I will have the time to put a handle on one before the deadline. We'll see.

I am ready! Just need to put an edge on it. AEBL @ 62. Ironwood and silver ingot.
I wish I could say that's a bitchin Damascus, but it's just the reflection of the trees. ;)

I got some time in on the kith knife today. I got the guard slotted, rough shaped, and the handle rough fit. I'll have to touch up the polish as it slipped in my jig for pressing guards. Not my best guard fit ever, but no gaps. Just a shadow of a line though.

Looking good Warren. Getting some more done on mine as well. Got one side of the blade almost hand sanded and the other half way till I slipped and almost cut myself. I dropped back and made a longer bottom plate for my knife vise that will extend out to protect my hands from the blade. Just waiting on the epoxy to dry attaching a layer of rubber on the 3/8" flat bar. So putting safety first tonight. Got enough scars on my fingers already not looking to get any more if I can help it.

Much better. No worries on bloody fingers now. Making some more progress tonight about ready to start working up the grits. Just a couple more spots right by the plunges to work out with the 220 from the belts grinder.

I've been distracted with other projects so I'm really hoping I can get this done in time.
The blade is cpm-154cm from Aldo, heat treated by Peter's. 416 bolsters, backspacer is undecided so far.

I've had a few hiccups with a backspacer of all things. I originally tried corian, it was too fragile so now I'm trying some Damascus I bought. Apparently it was forge welded with carbide and diamonds because it took me a while to cut it out with a dremel. It just laughed at the saw. It was the first piece I've ever bought so I don't know if it usually comes annealed. I tried to anneal it in my forge, but anyway here's where I'm at.

Here I am trying to anneal the backspacer

Josh, that makes me jealous, I wish I knew how to build one of those! I also love a wharnie/sheepfoot blade. I'd be glad to get that in the shape it's in now!
