My antique amber and cranberry jigged rope knives showed up this afternoon. The photos do not do these justice, as these are some amazing knives. I am glad I was able to grab a couple to add to my collection. The bails are pretty large and unique to boot. The fit and finish is impeccable, as is the case with all of Charlie's SFOs, of course.
While I am impatiently waiting for my Northfield CFO to show up thought I would post some pics of a Kingston I have and a size comparison to a WW2 Camillus rope knife.
Charlie, can't wait for my Northfield to show up, you really did a great job on them. The jigging is some of the best I've seen on a new knife.
Charlie Sir- No....it came with a tin of buttons etc when I bought the I*XL Sheepsfoot Barlow - its fairly old, and I was Rapt because I just felt it ties in with these Ropes knives, The Crown suggests that its a queens service - so would this be Navy? it has the number on the corner of the patch - the way that the line printed as a curve underneath the number tells you this is not to be seen when sewn into/onto the garment.
I will research further and come back.
I just cannot wait till mine arrive-which probably wont be for a while - Im not too sure....But Oh man....... they look just stunning, the details to the Bolsters and Bail are magnificent - the work on the Bone is continually getting better and better and better - and Bill started off with excellent work anyway!
These really are as close as one could get to Custom - and for the price-...it doesnt weigh up - we ( the consumer ) are DEFINITELY on the winning side here!
edit - Phill - just look at that Bone matey!! thats insane!
ps Philll your skin behind your leg hairs is looking very dry my friend.
Looks like you found it Duncan! What a source the internet is!!
