World War I Navy Issue Knife

Thanks, Sarah, and I am sure GEC thanks you, for the complement!
Nice of you to comment Jack, Barry et alia!
A combination of Bill's desire for excellence, and a little extra nagging on my part I am proud to say, keeps some good focus on the jigging process!

I am jealous as heck Barry! I hope I get a couple before Christmas!

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought it was odd to name a color after another brand name.. This makes sense now.

I'd 'imagine' Case cleared that up for them. I too wondered why or how they used "Case Red" as a color. "Cranberry Red" is much more appropriate, IMO.

GEC's what's in production page has updated and is in a different format today.

I doubt Case was even aware of it. It was a nice homage to the old Case knives but I think "cranberry red" suits the color well.

The jigging looks really good. I'd like to get some of their peach seed, pick bone, worm groove bone, and some of this new stuff for my own projects. I doubt it would interest them but I'm sure that could give Culpepper some competition. GEC's bone handles have improved a lot over the years.

Just asking .... But is there anyone planning on taking a dremel to the bail and just leaving a hole there. I removed the bail from my Gun Scout because I like the slim profile.

I am still on the fence with what I might do with mine.

I think the extra length and width shouldn't be too bad because the 15's usually feel a bit small to me. It looks so darn good I don't know if I could bring myself to cut the bail off.

 If anyone's looking to assault one of those stunning bails I'd suggest selling the knife to me and using the money to buy one of the Tidioutes with the plain bail. Just sayin' ;)

Fabulous knives Charlie, they really evoke the spirit of the originals!

texmex03, I absolutely love the bail on these - all versions. Charlie's is really really cool. I did wrap the bail in para cord, so that it wouldn't scratch the blade or knife. I will pot a picture of my new lanyard (you can look back in this thread of my older lanyard on my red Navy Knife), but it is no way as cool as the other.

In the pocket, I can't tell that the bail is there too much. I'm one of those people who like things for what they are; therefore, these knives are special for their blade and bail. Bill did an excellent job on the design, Charlie did very well with his version, and Lone Star hit it out of the park, IMO. I doubt you will want to remove the bail, when you get yours.

We need more Rope Knife pics here!!
I haven't received my Northfields yet, but here are some Tidioutes, along with a big, old Miller Bros you have seen before!*
This is a fairly graphic comparison of the difference between the old style Navy knife, and the WWI version! The Miller is 4 3/4" while the Tidioutes are 3 1/2".
The original WWIs were actually a little shorter at 3 3/8".

The Button is one of three versions GEC dropped into random tubes!! I got one, in three knives! Now I have to collect the other two!! Incurable!!

*Thanks for the Miller Bros and that wonderful Dreidle, Rachel!!

I have no rope knife to take pictures of Charlie! I'm stalking the mailman this week and I'm not lookin' for cards...

Since mine are up, here's some pics.

I have several more on the way. This #15S15 is a favorite in any variation.

My EDC for the week.

Others are still in tube. Not a single button. Bummer.

That Miller Brothers is an incredible knife, it must have been hard to let go of r8shell :) Congratulations Charlie, most worthy of knife guardians! :)

I am, and will be, ever grateful, Rachel! I've looked unsuccessfully for a decent example of that exact knife, for quite a while!

And I will take good care of it, Rachel and Jack; thanks!!
In fact, I just oiled it this morning.

I was curious about the other button designs for the Tidioutes, and Sue at GEC snapped me a quick pic, along with the new label color scheme for the Northfields. I wish I had thought of buttons for my SFO!

^^^Those are so awesome! I swear, I've ordered several of these and if I don't get a pin...I'll still be happy, but slightly less. HaHa! I like the new tube as well, thanks for sharing all that, Charlie. I doubt I'll have mine before Christmas, but I am so stoked to be getting all three. I really love these #15 Rope Knives.

So GEC posted their image for the Amber Bone versions today. They appear a lot darker then the original image, which I am personally quite happy with.

Whew- they are looking good. The I*XL Sheepsfoot I got a wee while ago - that I recently posted in the Barlow thread of Charlie's - along with it came a few curio's and one item was a unused sailors patch that was obviously for sewing into a garment if sorts - well this patch has two anchors and rope- MOST fitting for this thread- must post a pic of it.
