World War I Navy Issue Knife

Sorry to hear about your lack of pins :( Mine were gifted to me by Charlie, along with the knife :) Perhaps it would be worth you contacting the dealer you bought the knives from, or even GEC? I'm glad you like it so much

Nice stuff!
I too have no pins, but I do understand there are few and far between - no complaints from New Zealand way though - Im luckiest guy in the world!
Great family, Great Friends - here and home - great job, and lots of beautiful knives, just got home from the Beach with Sue - ahhhhhhh life is pretty good at times eh folks!

Re: the Navy buttons/pins!
GEC made them for their dealer knives (non-SFOs), and randomly dropped them into the tubes. Maybe only 20% of the knives got one. I whined and grovelled for a while, and they sold me a few they had left over to get me off the phone! Heh! I have since given most away, and kept a couple of each to use when scanning knives. Sorry I didn't get one for everyone! They just didn't make enough of them!!

As stated in my Thank you Thread to Paul, heres a few group shots of Charlies latest -always a bit late when traveling all the way here to New Zealand, but here they are........well worth the wait - anyday!!!!!!!!!!!

Duncan That is an outstanding group of knives my friend! Good on you mate!

Thank You Mark my friend - they are indeed Outstanding!

Charlie, no need to explain - I'm sure everyone knows there was a shortage!

My apologies for unwittingly causing a button controversy

I received some British Navy lanyards today. They are 30" long and have one fixed knot and one sliding knot.

One might be able to fashion something useful out of one of these

 Those Royal Navy lanyards look pretty massive Jack!

OK for a flogging or cat o'nine tails:D:D:eek:

They're 30 inches long Will, worn around the neck, under the collar to supposedly avoid a choking hazard, but I'll not be doing that with a sliding knot! Longer lanyards were worn around the waist, shorter ones around the shoulder

British Naval clasp knife being worn at the waist.

This is my regular clasp knife set-up (in this case a Belgian Navy knife). The knife goes in a belt carried pouch. Chain links the shackle to my belt. Whistle attaches to the belt-clip.

Very interesting, Jack!

Yes, one might be able to (bolded part above). So why do I envision you inadvertently attached to a doorknob somewhere, all a-tangle.

:D

-- I look forward to hearing your reports of real-life adaptations and usefulness.

:d:d:d <---- These were supposed to be big toothy grins

(Foiled by the lower-case gremlins!!!)

LOL! :D In truth, they're more likely to get tangled up on the kitchen table :o :D

For future reference, it's to do with the length of the post my friend :) ":D :D :D" won't work, ":D :D :D " will ;)

Seriously?? How do you know all this stuff, Jack? Where are these rules recorded? Is there a place that provides a rationale for the rules? How did YOU get three consecutive "Big Grins" without waking the lower-case gremlins, or does putting them in quotes give you some kind of spiritual protection? (And what kind of logic dictates that :D:D:D brings gremlins but :D:D:D:thumbup: doesn't? Shouldn't the "illegal substring" in the second example be enough to wake the gremlins? My brain hurts. :()

EDIT: Wait a minute! My post should not "work properly". Jack, are you toying with me?:rolleyes:

LOL! Just trial and error my friend. Once the ':D' fails, it stays that way, even if you then add to your post, but not if you go back and re-do the smarticons. While ':D :D :D' is too short a post, and will appear as ':d :d :d', adding a ' more than doubles the size of your post because ' is actually spelled out  (but in lower case)

Likewise  is spelled out  (in lower case), and  is  (also in lower case).

Hope some of that makes sense! :D
